Sorry to butt in. A hypodermic is sometimes referred to as a "gun." OK, butting out, now.

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
The dBs opening for REM on my list of Best Shows EVAH. At the Tower Theater in Philadelphia (well Upper Darby) in, uh, '84?
Happy Birthday Bicyclops!!
Another band covered it on one of the Bloodshot comps too.
Trailer Bride. Melissa Swingle also sings on Alejandro Escovado's tepid cover of "Sexxx Beat" on his Bourbonitis Blues EP.

I'm sure that was a factor in the name selection, now that you mention it. Sure beats Creeping Ritual.

Saw that tour! Saw them in Providence, RI actually.
Also saw the following bands open for REM at different shows: Let's Active, Husker Du, The Neats.
I think I saw them with Let's Active. Brain fuzzy. sooo long ago.
Husker Du playing at an Elk's Club in Philly (in '85/'86?) was one of my other best shows. I saw Bob Mould recently here in baltimore and I told him that and he said someone else had come up to him that night and said they were at that same show.
(I also told him about how they helped me survive high school and how i quoted "Chartered Trip Away" in my yearbook and how he looked fantastic and how I do pilates now... I was xtra babble-icious fangirl!)
I bet Bob dug that.
I bet Bob dug that.
He did, I think. He was a little bemused but nice.
tangerine juice, chocolate chip muffin
this is where I saw Husker Du way way back inna day:
funny the stuff you can find on the internet. what i really want now is a list of all the bands that opened for REM on their various tours so I can jog my feeble brain.
Heh. I know that thirdave guy (from lisah's poster link). He used to go see The Pee Wee Fist all the time.
Did you know Stamey toured with Alex Chilton for a year?
Doesn't surprise me -- I've got that "Summer Sun" 7" (one of the best opening sound effects ever).
The Bible of Bop (Kimberly Rew backed by Softboys, dBs and Waves).
"Stomping All Over the World" -- One of the great forgotten powerpop tunes.
Happy Birthday bicyclops! I did'nt realize you were quoting the Beatles and meaning it all literally. We also share a birthday with Kurt Cobain, Patty Hearst, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Robert Altman.
