I was thinking that it would be great fun to do a road trip to Houston to see Dana perform in the LotR concert. (It would be great fun -- but I'm probably too broke to do it.)
Still -- MWBuffista f2f in Houston?
'Safe'
Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".
A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

Alan Lee was at the Atlanta performance.
Coming soon is saying that RotkEE won't be out 'til December.
AAUUUUUGGGGHHHH!
Well, understandable, but still. Can't wait.
December? Pfeh.
Any speculation on what we'll get with the commemorative gift set? A miniature Anduril? A statue of an Oliphaunt? A Zippo lighter with an engraving of Denethor?
Bleh. I spit on your December, New Line.
I sort of suspected, though, considering that the little coupon in the theatrical cut for $5 off if you buy both had no date for the EE release, just "Holiday 2004".
Fooey.
A Zippo lighter with an engraving of Denethor?
BWAH!! I want one.
A Zippo lighter with an engraving of Denethor?
Y'know that scene in A Bug's Life where the bugs have the trick rigged, the bottlecap rolls down the ramp, triggers the plastic spoon which whirls around and whaps the candybar wrapper which lifts up, yadda, yadda, which strikes the match...and the ringmaster has to be loose by then in order to avoid, "FLAMINNGG--DEATH!" ?
Yup. Every time Denny the Torch took his leap off the helipad, the little gerbil in my head was screaming, "FLAMINNGG--DEATH!"

Also, when the Eye of Sauron gets that startled look when the One Ring finally falls into Mt. Doom, I keep wishing that there was a Tex Avery style aaaahhhhOOOOOOOOGAH! sound effect to go with.
Bundy:
One of the best experiences I had watching the LotR movies was seeing the EE of TTT at Raquel's. The audience was wonderfully snarky, so it was almost like seeing a Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of the film.
I love the aaaahhhhOOOOOOOOGAH! for the Eye of Sauron. And a Buffista snarkfest MSTK-3000 would be affectionate enough to be fun.
I still can't watch "Flash Gordon" without incorporating the snarky comments of the couple who sat behind us when we saw it in the theatre. When we watched it later on tape, we were disappointed, until we remembered that just because their snark was part of our movie experience? Didn't mean it would be part of the actual movie.
