We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Dude! It's like Ringu in print form, yes?

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Book 4 in the Thursday Next series is being released...thursday, August 5.

Heh.

The title is Something Rotten. I may get it from the library and skim, but the last one wore my patience pretty thin. And The New York Times Book Review (as quoted on the Amazon page) is calling the series Harry Potter Just For Adults? Uh, I don't think so.

Up with the sun

I lost patience with Thursday Next halfway through the first book. Too cutesy for me by half.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Just opened my birthday package from my mom (as soon as I got it instead of waiting for the actual day, as is tradition in my family). She sent me "Devil in the White City," "The Island in the Center of The World," and "Dress Your Child in Corduroy and Denim." All books I really wanted. Yahoo!

Scrappy's Actual Day being Thursday, I think.

I knew it was close. And my perpetual need to celebrate your Scrappitude needs very little nudge to be set off.

Signals fireworks to go off. Initiates Scrappy Love Week. Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell and Hugh Jackman enter tapdancing, shirtless and in tight black leather pants, under a special fountain jet lightly misting them in fragrant oils, stage left. As TMBG hums their latest hit, "Scrappy Is Wise" from the next table, a trained team of SWAT pamper specialists descends on Robin, massaging her feet and forearms while giving her a manicure and washing and styling her hair. She is then ushered behind a backlit curtain as BNL croons (a capella) their new hit, "Scrappy Is Hott." Scrappy emerges from behind the screen in her fabulous new Donna Karan suit to the sound of a fanfare. A vintage silver Rolls Royce enters stage right, and Sherry Lansing steps out with The Standard Rich and Famous Contract. The crowd roars as it leaps to its feet in unison, providing the longest ovation in recent human memory.
