Hey. New board.

I do agree with the point of needing a moment of catharsis. There HAS to be more footage in there they can use...

Honestly, though, I have serious hopes that it will be made a lot better by having the right music in that scene, extra footage or no. Music can do pretty amazing things.

I really wanted Mal to make some sort of comment about the stupid stereotype of the Giant Whirling Blades of Death. It would have made that bit work a little better.

ETA: I "knew" the series was never coming back before I went in, because I'm a realist. But now I really know. You can't make this kind of paradigm shift twice. I'm not sure it will make the shift commercially successfully even once. Though I'll do my personal damnedest to make sure it does.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The lighting threw me off, much more than the music.

What is even happening?

This is when spoilers are good. I've gotten the gut punches out of the way, before I fell in love with the film. Now, when I go and fall in love with the film, which I surely will, I won't have to break up with it before the closing credits.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

And lordy, did she get a power shot.

Oh hells yes. I may need that for my wallpaper.

I pretty much agree with what Hec said (quelle suprirse). I thought there was more of a chance to process Wash's death than I was expecting from Kate and Kalshane had led me to believe, but they may have been knowing it was coming.

The unspoiled folks I was with, after the movie, said "I was getting worried that he was going to kill everyone off there for a while. That would have pissed me off." Heh. They were Firefly fans, not Joss Whedon/Buffy fans, but they loved his intro.

There was also some discussion to how this will play to someone unfamiliar with the series, and I have some fears on that front. Book, to take just one example, is going to be a total mystery to newcomers (and not in the good way that he was a mystery during the series). I'm not even sure it was clear what Inara did, either. I loved it, but I fear it's only going to work for the converted.

I really wanted Mal to make some sort of comment about the stupid stereotype of the Giant Whirling Blades of Death. It would have made that bit work a little better.

Heh. I leaned over to my friend when they showed those and said "I know what Sigourney Weaver would say to that."

The lighting threw me off, much more than the music.

I think that will most likely be fixed in the final version - color balancing and all that. If you look at the scenes from the trailer vs. the same scenes in the preview, you can see the difference.

Art Crawl!!!

I can't believe that he killed Wash! (I'm guessing that's the plot-point that somebody over at lj was beginning a campaign to change.)

We had Summer at our screening! She is so tiny and so cute in person.

I really wanted to learn more about Book's backstory. I'm sad that we probably won't get it. Unless it's what the comics are about.

Also, I think it would be interesting to see Zoe post-Wash -- maybe more Zoe backstory in the future.

I really enjoyed the movie despite it's not being all finished and stuff.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

We had Summer at our screening! She is so tiny and so cute in person.

It figures someone shows up for the Chicago screening I don't go to.

As for Wash's death. No, I didn't know it was coming. Took me by complete surprise. And then I didn't get a chance to really register it before suddenly most of the cast was wounded. It was just way too much without a breather and caused me to shut down emotionally. Obviously it worked better for others than it did for me.

Art Crawl!!!

She said she PICKED CHicago -- it was exciting.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

She said she PICKED CHicago -- it was exciting.

She must have thought I'd be there.

Crap. Now she's probably mad at me.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dude, you can't stand up Summer! She can kill you with her brain!

If I only had a brain...

We had Summer at our screening! She is so tiny and so cute in person.

We got a rock. (No cast members in SF.)
