It was a conscious decision for us to not have the header on every page for precisely that reason.

I know that, although they don't really take up as much room here as they did there.

There's really only a couple of threads where it would actually be worthwhile to have it.

Feeling unexpectedly peaceful.

Now that was so much better than Heart of Gold that it could be a different show. Worlds removed. If that's the note it has to go out on, it's a bloody good note. I do hope we get more, but that's a beautiful way to wrap things up, if wrapped up they must be.

Gorgeous cinematography. Really lovely - the visuals were breathtaking, and the shifting through the layers of the ship was wonderfully effective and resonant.

The scene with Jubal threatening Kaylee in the Engine Room was thoroughly chilling, not least because of the writing, with its headfucking existential/ghostly/Santa stuff tying in with the fact that there was all this talk of mind reading - and that was a cracking piece of work from Jewel. Really good stuff. Absolute hats off to her.

I guessed that River was in Early's ship, and part of the reason I guessed was because you could see her in the background the whole time, if you were looking. Oh blessed FX people. Wonderful detail, to have this little blur of movement in the background during the scenes which were focussing on Jubal's face.

I think I may need to think on all this at greater length. Right now, unfortunately, I'm going to need to go and do some more stuff, so this isn't as lengthy as it should be, but I need to get in with my first thoughts.

Simon/Kaylee. I'm so disarmed by that -- and wasn't my boy just adorable? Oh, Simon's my favourite, he really is, for all that it's only by a whisker. Just loved every damn thing about Simon, not least his attack on Early. (Pyjama bottom-clad Simon was a lovely bonus, of course.)

What really poured off this episode was the sense of family. It was lovely watching them pull together at River's instructions -- I was reminded of War Stories, but in some ways better, even, because it was messier and thus more real-feeling. I loved the fact that River didn't speak to Jayne -- entirely plausible, and unsappy. Loved Mal to PIECES, especially outside the ship. That was just gorgeous. That was like -- I'm all tearful, actually, because I want to hug the show. I love the way that Book and Jayne have built up an unsentimental rapport, and the banter at the end. I'm still perfectly fond of Inara and Mal, and not irritated by their dynamic.

This was beautiful. Compared to this, Heart of Gold really not looking so good, I must confess -- but by God, they had some fucking good television in the scant 13 episodes. They really really did. This is work to be proud of for all concerned, down to the tiniest details. The acting, the set design, the writing, the sound design (I bloody love the range of incidental music), the FX, the costumes, the direction itself -- the story telling.

Yup. One of my biggest problems with HoG is that *it's* the last new one I'll ever see. Out with a whimper, not a bang.

What Fay said about the cinematography. The overhead shot of River picking up the branch surrounded by leaves was just breathtaking. And I love the way the FX shots cutting through the ship were so well-used, they weren't just a visual gimmick.

Summer Glau was just fabulous in this too. Aw, so was everyone. I'm having trouble concentrating on just Objects in Space. I feel like I should be thinking about the series as a whole. Or not, as it were.

Like Fay, I want to hug the show. I want to hug the show, sit it down and make it a cup of tea, and tell it how much I appreciate it. And then I want to jump up and down on the Fox execs' big fat heads until I feel better. It might take a while.

I loved, beyond the telling of it, the part where River is standing in leaves in the hold holding the stick then BANG big fucking gun! It was such a fantastic jump, like Anya pinned to the wall in Selfless.

The poignancy of the last shot we ever get to see of Serenity as it sailing off into the black fair had me welling up in a manly way.

And as Fay says, hats off to Jewel for the being scared in the engine room. And also loved the "Are you Alliance?", "A lion?" scene, it was not funny and added to the off kilterness that was Juble.
