"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Regardless of the genetics possibilities, the fact that any such child could only be raised by Zoe rather than Zoe and Wash would be heartbreaking.

Yeah, but he'd have a cool and cantankerous Uncle Mal. It wouldn't be a bad ship to grow up on between Kaylee and Inara and Simon and River.

If I only had a brain...

I wouldn't trust River with my baby. When she flips out, she flips out big-time. There was no reason for her to knife Jayne.

I'm not sure how Flipppy Outtie we're supposed to see River after the movie. In any event, I was only putting her in a willing playmate mode on things like jacks, not an unsupervised babysitter.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

There's always a reason to knife Jayne. Sometimes, though, there are also reasons not to.

I may have to seize the cat.

I'm going to be seeing it with a couple people who haven't seen it on Friday (as well as a ton of people who have) and I'm actually feeling kind of guilty in a bizarre way because I know what a severe gut punch Wash's death was to me (and it still makes me sad to think about) and for whatever reason I feel like I'm inflicting that same pain on my friends and that it might be kinder to leave them in the TV-verse where Wash (and Book) still lives.

I feel this completely.

Saw the movie (kind of, had my eyes closed for much of it, because migraine) for the second time. Music was different. I miss Greg Edmondson. An excellent action movie. I was too busy being in awe of the sheer existence of the movie to appreciate it the first time, but really. Just incredible action.

Hi Kiba!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

There was no reason for her to knife Jayne.

Besides seeing the Blue Sun logo on his shirt, you mean?

Not that it was a good reason, but it was a reason in her cut-up brain.

If I only had a brain...

Yes, but somebody who sees T-shirts as cause for murder ain't getting near my loin-fruit.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I was convinced that the movie would end with Zoe finding out she was pregnant, and I'm so, so very glad it didn't.

Oh dear God yes. I just can't imagine any way to have pulled that off without invalidating the mood of the whole movie. And having me cracking up laughing.

But it's a nice thought that in some universe, somewhere, there's a little Zoe Wash baby kicking all the other babies' butts and playing with dinosaurs. It makes me happy, at least.
