I had forgotten why I have these big breaks between Farscape tape makeing . I just watched 2 episodes. I want more. now. but it is almost 1am and I have things I want to do tomorrow.
Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Nope, Aeryn getting to live nonwithstanding, Zhaan's death really had no silver lining at all.
Does John Quixote count as a silver lining?
Umhmm. I love the humor, I think that's what really got me, and I love sitting down to watch the show, but at the same time, it's not something I'll go rushing home for either - and I never, never remember the Friday night eps. I'm not nearly as invested as I was in Buffy or Firefly or Angel.
I have them Tivoed -- so I have the nex episode sitting there waiting for me....
I just realised I've run 8 Stargate eps off to tape. In no particular order, because that's how they're aired. When they're on, they're on.
But Buffyverse loyalty? Nope. Not even what I'd consider my XFiles or Nikita levels of loyalty. It's so much fun -- I don't want fandom to mess with that.
Ha. Yes. I've been very, very careful with Stargate, because I want it to keep its title as my Most Relaxing Fannish Experience Ever.
Poor Jonas. He got a bit of a raw deal from the writers; I had a tough time recovering from "I learn really, really fast!" and warming up to him. I kind of wish they'd kept him around this season, but I suspect there would've been budgetary issues.
I want it to keep its title as my Most Relaxing Fannish Experience Ever.
Yes, Katie! That's exactly it. Stargate is a sort of low-impact fandom for me.

PERfect descriptions. I don't have to see every episode as it airs, and I know I've missed a bunch, but that just gives a warm, fuzzy feeling of future happy when I get the DVDs and can see them all. Don't HAVE to have them NOW, DAMMIT.
Also, I'm suddenly grooving on the name Jonas for a possible future boy child (of mine). Not sure -- but I'm digging it today. Maybe too much? I dunno. I like it. Jonas.
Oh, I actually did fall for the show pretty hard. I just don't expect a lot from it, you know? It's not like Buffy or Angel, where a slump in quality disappoints me. With Stargate, I want basically recognizable characters who have reasonably interesting adventures and like each other most of the time, with the occasional entertainingly snarky commentary. When they do better I enjoy it, but it's really tough to feel let down by it, and if they go in a way I don't want them to I don't get all invested in the outcome.
I will say, the experience has given me a lot more sympathy for the folks who had to insulate themselves from people who were critical of the later seasons of Buffy.
OK, I know I'm being really lazy here, but ... me, too, Katie, iff'n I didn't express it that way before. The DVDs are on my wishlist and all. But it's a more comforting kind of love. Ya' know, the kind of show you can count on to be there for you in its way, and it's all good. Like a nice, easy-going good pal you wouldn't trade for the world. I can get excited about it, but I don't think I could ever be disappointed in it. It'd have to try REALLY hard for that.
