This is also true in the original series.
Though, discounting the awful Galactica 1980, it's never estabilshed when the events of the series take place in relation to Earth time (before or after now, that is).

You must have timed your dog walk break perfectly, because they put the title "Water" up on the screen in big white letters, just before they cut into Boomer, soaking wet, with a faraway look in her eyes.

There was one ep of the original BSG where Apollo was monitoring random space noise listening for signals that would steer them towards civilization. At the very end of the episode, right after Starbuck had lured him away from his post, there was a sudden clear burst signal of a NASA Apollo mission transmission.

If they did, that's gone and slipped my mind entirely. I only remember awful Galactica 1980 actually on Earth.
There was an arc where Galactica found a planet called Terra, which was Earth-like, but they discovered it wasn't really Earth.
In the Galactica 80 series, the guy who played all grown up Boxey was Kent McCord, who also played Jack Crichton in Farscape.
