Then I realized symbiotes aren't Trill, & I can no longer remember which rules govern what. Argh. Brain hurts!
The symbiotes hang from the ceiling of the cave; the trills stick up from the floor of the cave. Easy peasy.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Violet, no, you're right (that is to say, that rule applies to symbiotes). That is, you would be right, if Stargate were that consistent in its characterization of the symbiote-host relationship. Bah! I crack myself up with the humor.
The new hosts get the memory of the old hosts? Where did we see that?
DS9 confused me in Invasive Procedures where Dax is moved to Lionel Luthor (you know what I mean), and the new blend acts like a complete ass, but when Dax goes back to Jadzia, it's all hugs and flowers. I'm not sure how consistent DS9 is -- people are still referred to as Jadzia or Dax -- at least the funky voice thing on Stargate makes it clear.
Umm... okay, nowhere. Curse you, wee ita! It's like you follow me around to point out the glaring holes in my hastily-composed, ill-thought-out posts!
But don't we see that the symbiote gets the memories of the host? And then the new host would get the memories of the symbiote? Sorta? Well, Sam anyway. So it's like: (xCy ^ yCz) -> xCz?
ETA: All posts today should be taken with a disclaimer: Now with added extra crazy!
I always got the idea that with the Trill, the personalities and memories of host and symbiote got all blended and stuff, with the host's personality being a bit more dominant than the symbiote's (although affected by such).
With the Tok'ra, it's more like bringing in a roommate with the agreement that it's okay to go through each other's stuff, as long as you both help with the chores. Same deal with the Goa'uld, but with much more of a "Single White Female" vibe.

True for Martouf/Lantash and Jacob/Selmac, but I think generally not. At least, that's the implication I was getting from that ep where the Tok'ra-Tauri alliance falls apart.
ita?
That bit was more about the Trill than the Tok'ra.
I get the feeling from some of the Tok'ra that they're a pretty bossy bunch as a whole, and one of the reasons that they don't like being referred to as "Goa'uld" is because the comparison hits a little too close to home for some of them.
Oh, Emily. I don't want to make you nervous. Because then I'll never be able to catch you outhave relaxed discussions with you.
Jolinar was certainly very bossy -- not just in dominating Sam, but imperious in general. The implication in Death Knell was that Tauri hosts weren't so used to subjugation, so perhaps harder to deal with.
Interesting Trill thing was that it seems an exjoined Trill doesn't remember the symbiote's memories, unlike the go'auld/to'kra ex-host.
Which makes me wonder -- Jack got locked out of all memories from his worm, eh?

In "Summit," Random Female Tok'ra tells Sam that part of Martouf lives on in Lantash. Therefore, presumably older hosts would do so as well.

Have I mentioned how much I love this, and think it is dead-on? Because I do. (Except that Martouf did all the talking for his pairing. Lantash probably got made fun of down at the Tok'ra Pub for being host-whipped.)

As far as we know. (Minus the few from the actual rescue attempt.) Of course, Jack could just be suppressing; Sam's Jolinar memories didn't show up for a while, and they had to go digging with the memory device to get them back really strongly.
Jack had a specific deal going in, though -- everyone knew that he wanted as little "blending" as possible, so it may be that it's controllable by the symbiote.
