Nah, Sean. That sounds like every third episode I watched. Not to say I dislike that facet of the show--the writers set up the conflict between the Cardassians and the Bajorans very well from the get-go. "Duet" was a particular favourite of mine out of the episodes I've seen thus far. (Good old Quentin. Harris Yulin rocks.)
Wait a minute. Is that the one about the Cardassian war orphan who was adopted by a Bajoran? I saw that one. Goooood episode. Lots of crafty Garak-ness.
I'm cross-posting this w/WX: Zap2it has an article about Mutant X that suggests that perhaps next year Shalimar may not be back. Unless, I read this more hopefully than others.
Vonnie - you are in for such a treat. Garak and Gul Dukat both had pretty amazing story arcs over the course of 7 seasons. Most of the characters went through some significant changes; most of them were interesting.
Though the arcy-ness doesn't really kick in until season 2 or 3. I was so glad at least one Trek show got to throw away the Roddenberry show bible.
I'm getting behind on Stargate: I still have 2 unwatched episodes on the Tivo, and it'll be recording more tonight. This is difficult.
But I did finally see the episode where Daniel ascended. Could the ending have been any more subtexty?
My viewing may have been colored by the fact that I read a story called Reveille yesterday, which Vonnie recced, which was both hot and believable Daniel/Jack. Mmmm, the fabulous "aliens made us have sex!" trope. Much superior to the XF version (considered a classic by many), which is icky and includes rape scenes. Bleah.
Heh. I love that story. Of course, I pretty much follow shalott wherever she goes, but still.
DS9, while not one that I watched regularly, did have the BEST. Trek. Episode. EVAH!!!!!!1!
Trials and Tribbleations.
Laughed? 'til I peed myself!
Trials and Tribbleations.
It also had one of the best Trek episodes on the other end of the spectrum: "The Visitor." Talk about a gut-punch.
Is that the Jake ep?
And don't forget "Far Beyond the Stars."
Is that the Jake ep?
Yup.
And don't forget "Far Beyond the Stars."
Absolutely brilliant. One of the things I liked about the last season was (whitefonted for those who haven't seen it)
was the way they returned to the idea that the Trekverse was a figment of Benny Russell's imagination. That was a nice use of continuity.
There were so many good eps.
The one with Sisko
where he agrees to Garek sabotaging a Romulan ship to get them involved in the war
As has already been mentioned, the Harris Yulin ep and the Dax ep with the old-time Klingons going into battle together were both stellar.
I'm glad I have close friends who ponied up for the discs so that I can watch. I've missed it more than I thought I would.
