We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

And will there be no follow-up on Rebecca Morgan? This pregnancy probably isn't going to help her dancing career, and her waittressing job might make it very difficult to support a baby. And the father of the baby can't stand her. There's a happy ending.

Not to mention, preventing a suicidal moment is NOT the end of the work. It is the beginning, and often part of a cycle. Do you know how much info there is on talking down a suicidal person, and how little there is about how to help them long term?

BTresearchedT, still trying to figure it out.

WRT the firefighter, at the end Tru realized that (for Nick, anyway) it WAS about the little girl and not him. He didn't ask her to help him again, so either TPTmakecorpsestalkymeat or he realized it was "his" time to go.

It's a remora, dimwit.

Okay, but "natural causes" can make it iffy. What if someone died at age 12 of a burst appendix because the they couldn't get treatment soon enough. Or they were purposefully infected with a deadly disease. Or eaten by bears. Even fire is kind of natural. Maybe if instead they made it that just certain dead people can talk to Tru. TWOP pointed out that in pilot her brother said something about dead people having spoken to her throughout her life. Or that it's just people who didn't want to die who had the luck to be brought in at the beginning of her shift. Or else she might end up with someone who died as a result of euthanasia who wouldn't exactly benefit from just going back one day to change a few things.

His main problem is Adam Brody, who's just continually on fire. AB's the lynchpin of the show, what elevates it above what it probably was on paper.

I love Ryan, too, but were any actor but AB in Seth's role, I don't think it would be enough to get me to watch. Their chemistry, and not even in a HoYay way, is pretty remarkable and rare.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't think that everyone that comes in and died of unnatural causes is going to speak to her -- they haven't so far. So she gets to see all of them, is spoken to by a subset.

I don't see the problem.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

The media licked him

And who can blame them, really?

Also, smonster can attest to my immediate and visceral reaction to seeing Anna for the first time. (IIRC, it involved hurling myself at the teevee moanscreaming "OH MY GOD I WANT HER!")

God, I have to rewatch this weekend. It is a thing of marvels.

And when I finally saw the premiere, it kinda looked like they suddenly discovered writing for AB. Because good as he was, his material has gotten more tailor-made.

As for chemistry, it was apparent then (spoon on nose moment), but the scene in the hospital when Luke got shot? Pure magic.

TWOP pointed out that in pilot her brother said something about dead people having spoken to her throughout her life.

Tru's mom died ten years before. Her mother, after dying, spoke to Tru, saying that she was okay and it wasn't Tru's fault she died. Tru wished that she could go back and save her mom. I think the implication is that her ability to hear dead people and her desire to help her mom and her job in the morgue have come together to give her the opportunity to try and save those who can be saved by changing the events of one day.

Notice I didn't say this made sense or was the best way to 'save' people, whatever that means.

It's a remora, dimwit.

I didn't watch "Tru Calling" that closely - I'd just had a major dental procedure and was still looped from the diazepam and Nitrous. Still, that combination of drugs made the acting on the show seem a lot better.

I've mentioned that they didn't have any follow-up to Tru talking Rebecca down that night. Rebecca's got some problems that aren't going away as a result of one peptalk, and I'd really only consider Tru saving her if she did something to get her help. She could have taken her to her hospital for psychiatric treatment (she's pre-med, she'd know about holding patients at known risk for suicide), talked over some realistic options - abortion, adoption, offered to kick the father's ass until he signed papers to guarantee child support, etc.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm just hoping for a "Some Kind of Wonderful" plot turn, that's all.

smonster, I wrote just about this today. Lori and I were discussing the SKoW connection. But it's different.

1. I hate Lea Thompson and I like Rachel Bilson.
2. Summer isn't going out with a damned obnoxious guy.
3. I personally would be equally satisfied/upset if Seth went out with Summer as if he went out with Anna. In other words, they've done the impossible, and made me like Summer, 'cause otherwise, I'd be pro Anna only. That's the trick. In SKoW, I never liked LT's character and was always pro MSM's character.

Summer, though a raging bitch, is a raging bitch I care about. I like how funny she is. I like how she interacts with Seth, not like he's a flea on her ass, but with some grudging respect. the timing between the two actors? FANTASTIC.

I also like how Summer will get her girl's back, even if that girl is Marissa. I also like how Summer is somewhat damaged by her parents but not in an "Oh Woe is ME" way.

AB's the lynchpin of the show, what elevates it above what it probably was on paper.

Bears repeating.

as the one who wants Seth but can't have him, don't we all identify? (we=people who want Seth, of course)

Since you don't read Natter you wouldn't know this. But The Seth, My One True Television Love... it's true you all can't have him, because he's MINE.

Rumor has it that he ad libs a lot of the throwaway lines.
