Trudy, splainy?
In
The Dukes of Hazard
Bo and Luke always wore these big drawing-eye-crotchward belt buckles on their oh-so-tight jeans.
When Jonathan was going through his Father's trunk he picked up a belt with just such an enormous buckle and said his father "always wore this thing". Since it wasn't what Clark connected to (you know, Jor-El
wasn't
touching Grampa Kent's belt...) I took it as a shout out.
Wow. I thought that this was a fairly good episode. . . that KK did much better than normal and you could tell that TW was trying.
Honestly, I thought TW was trying to pass a difficult bowel movement. His tortured looks kept pulling me out of the damn thing. He did much better last week.
I actually thought that if KK had scenes with a good actor with more regularity she might improve more quickly . . . you know in a different series or something.
I've thought that since S1. I think if she was on a show with a: good writing for female characters (always the Smallville weak point) and b: more scenes with the more experienced members of the crew, she'd be decent.
She's young, and while inexperienced, she's not completely without talent. I think on say, a JW show, we'd all be marvelling at how much she's improved. I think she was good in Perry, and good in that one the week before Perry, because I'm not keeping track of episode titles other than Perry, it seems.
And she was very pretty all dolled up like that last night.
The smoking man,
Em, yes, it would have been the cigarette smoking man who was mayor of Smallville. It was funky.

Me too. I also felt (I think because of his facial expressions) that he looked a lot like a black-haired Carey Elwes in the 1961 scenes. This also may have been affected by the fact that I'd just watched The Pentagon Wars (a fantastic Made for HBO movie about the development of the Bradley fighting vehicle, starring Elwes, Kelsey Grammer, and Richard Schiff (Toby from West Wing)).

I was thrown for a loop because I'm SO used to seeing William B. Davis's younger self played by Chris Owens.
The Pentagon Wars
Possibly the best thing Elwes has been involved with since TPB.
I agree, Ken. It's a damn fine movie. I've seen it several times, and always enjoy it.

Oh, I thought it was just a country boy thing. (psst - I have a Luke Duke doll, MIB, 1 of 12,000) (It was a gift)
Maybe it is just a country boy thing.
But I do remember the buckles being available at the Mall during the Duke Boys heyday.
Mmm... Luke doll. I always loved Bo though.
I'm from Oklahoma and I can assure you that the belt buckles were the real deal and if you watch closely can still see members of the species
gigantus bucklus
foraging in their natural habitat (i.e. WalMart).

My college roommate has the Luke doll. Our third roommate got them for us for Christmas. We were late to rugby practice on a regular basis b/c of the Dukes of Hazzard reruns. This was a bad thing, since I was president at the time.
