'Dirty Girls'

Atlantic Canadian Monday Madness

[NAFDA] We used to get Buffy the day before everyone else, now we get Angel a week after everyone else. And Firefly every Monday!

Thanks for all the fish.

Hi Sophie! And, really, growing up in Northern New Brunswick you'd have seen your share of hideous weather.

I spent my high school years in Saskatchewan, so I understand cold.

"Let that which does not matter, truly slide." Fight Club

Hi, I want to introduce myself as well. I've been reading this board and enjoying it, along with Firefly and Angel and LotR of course. I am born and bred Nova Scotian, and so glad that today the cold snap ended. Hope it stays this way for awhile.

Hi, Olivya. Where are you now?

Hi Elena. I live in Halifax and am recently married! Both of us, yes my hubby supports my addiction to Joss, love Buffy (though I started watching in season 6-- did download all the episodes though and devoured past 5 seasons), and we loved Firefly from the premiere. Was extremely disappointed when it was cancelled, and am trying to find a store that carries the Firefly DVD set. Am thinking probably FutureShop in Bayers Lake.

I've been reading Buffistas for about a year now; totally amazed at the insights people post. I finally got the courage to post *smiles*.

Thanks for all the fish.

I ordered mine on-line, so I'm not sure which stores have it. Future Shop is a safe enough bet, though HMV may have it too.

hip deep in pie

I was at the Future Shop this afternoon, and I did not see it. (ETA: But I didn't look too hard.) They do have it for rent at Video Difference.

Hi Sophie and Olivya!

So all this talk of cold...yeah. I feel your pain. Because the thing about living in YK is that at least you know the cold is coming, and cars/houses/clothing are designed to handle it. My car, in addition to having a block heater, has something called a battery blanket. I'd never heard of it before moving up here.

I had a friend who lived in Whitehorse, and she mentioned that everyone leaves their cars running when they do errands.

Thanks for all the fish.

In Saskatchewan, too. It's routine to have a second set of keys with you so you can still lock up.

Yep. The big environmental issue in the winter is trying to convince people that they really don't need to leave their cars idling if they're running inside for 5 minutes. There are signs around buildings saying "idle free zones" (especially under air intakes).

Car manufacturers send their new models up here for "cold weather testing". It's kinda funny, because they hide any identifying features - last winter there was about 4 or 5 really snazzy sport cars, all identical, with tape over the grille to hide the sign, and they'd always drive around town in a little convoy. I've never figured out what they were.

Thanks for all the fish.

Okay, so both Space and ASN will have Angel tonight? What times, do you know? And do you know which Firefly is on?

edit - and by 'tonight' I clearly mean 'tomorrow night'
