Still no cable for me, and Eastlink had no clue when it would be back.
Atlantic Canadian Monday Madness
[NAFDA] We used to get Buffy the day before everyone else, now we get Angel a week after everyone else. And Firefly every Monday!
Add that to the ever growing list of things Eastlink doesn't have a clue about...
Incidentally, if anyone want's too see pictures of Juan Treebane's handiwork, there's a honkin' load of them here.
We were speculating at work that some people might switch back to MT&T (or whatever it's called now) because of the inconvenience of not having a phone during the power outage. What kind of dumbass connects their phone service to the power grid?
I figure pretty much any kind of dumbass could stumble over that one. That said, I kind of wish I had those dumbasses up here, since Sprint keeps telling us 'Don't leave your home tomorrow, we're coming' and than not showing. 4 times now. And Bell overcharges and later says 'No, we could not possibly have done that because it's illegal, so it didn't happen'. BAH!
Oh those pictures made me want to cry!
Halifax! My poor, sweet, Halifax!
The pictures of Barrington St. especially killed me. And the sunken boat with the Mar II in the background-- how AWFUL.
The thing that 's killing me is point pleasant park. Thoug there are a lot of trees down elsewhere there are still trees. in PPP, they're estinating that 60-75% are gone.
ETA forget it - it's working fine now.
The Globe had a very depressing article about all the beautiful elm trees in the Public Gardens that were uprooted.
I have Angel on tape - if anyone needs it, I can pop it in the mail Monday morning.
Were your elms as slaughtered by Dutch Elm Disease as ours? Losing a healthy stand of elms is just devistating.
Dani, I'll be taping Angel tomorrow night. We've had cable back for a good while, so there's no worries. I'll be passing the tape around as much as necessary. Thanks for the offer, though!
The elm trees were healthy as far as I know. I haven't been by the Public Gardens yet, but it looks so wrong from Spring Garden without the huge tree on the corner. Sigh.
By the way, local folks, I checked and ASN will be showing the Angel premiere tomorrow at 10:00, not 9:00. I guess they've changed the time for the season.
That conflicts with Firefly!
They are working on the cable for my house right now, AIFG!
I don't think we ever had a spate of Dutch Elm. Part of the problem is that NS is essentiall a lot of rock with leetle bit of soil on top, so roots don't grow very far anyway.
But you know, as many trees are down, in most parts of the city, there are still alot of trees. I think Point Pleasant Park is going to be the one place that's a shocker. (I'm waiting for someone to propose a condo development for there.)
