glad to hear that you and Ouise are ok, RahRah.

Atlantic Canadian Monday Madness
[NAFDA] We used to get Buffy the day before everyone else, now we get Angel a week after everyone else. And Firefly every Monday!
I have to say that it is a real relief seeing the Hooliganistas popping back up in here. I hope everyone is okay and not having to deal with too much damage and inconvenience.
But what I want to know is, did it make you feel better to have Peter Mansbridge there sharing your pain?
Glad to know everyone is okay, and I hope power comes back on asap. If cable isn't back on time & anyone needs a tape fairy for Angel, send me an email...
Most of us didn't have TV to know that Peter was even here!
I have power at home!!! Wooo! Even more amazingly, I have some internet access. Test only for now. Sadly, I don't have cable still, but that would probably be too much for one day for my little brain. The lights and TV are already sensory overlaod.
Dani, maybe tape Angel, if you don't normally. I'm hoping my cable will be back for the Monday viewing, but with Eastlink's cutomer service, I am not confident about that.
I got phone, tv and internet last night at 11pm! Sue, ignore my email about if you want a shower since you now have power.
See you all when I get back from the west.
Whew! We've got internet again. Text only, but that's enough. Things feel odd here -- almost normal, but not quite.
I've tag-lined a description of Halifax after the storm which I found very apt: "It looks like the world's been sprinkled with oregano." It really did. The houses, streets and sidewalks were all plastered with torn-up leaves.
On top of dealing with all this, the Canadian Unitarian Council is having its annual general meeting in Halifax this weekend. My mother just found out that she's billeting three people. She was also going to be leading a sunrise service in Point Pleasant Park on Saturday, but there's no way the park will be open by then. I have no idea what's going on. The actual conference was supposed to be held at the Atlantic School of Theology, but it's closed for repairs until next week. I'm so glad I'm not one of the planners.
Maybe they should be cancelling that. From what I hear, the south end is still a mess. I heard there were 20,000 trees estimated to be down in Point Pleasant Park. They showed an aerial view, and it looked like someone had been logging in there.
It totally looked like logging. Unbelievable. I think the sunrise service is likely to be cancelled. I haven't heard my my mother trying to figure out an alternative site, so she's probably given up on it. I guess they've decided they can manage the conference, although I don't know where.
By the way, glad to hear you've finally got your power back, Sue. Last night I was talking to my friend Joanne, whose father worked for NS Power for many years. She knew why the power at the apartment was already restored by Monday morning. We're on the same grid as the main office of NS Power, and so we're restored first so they can coordinate the work for everywhere else. Makes sense.
We got our power back at 8pm yesterday. Then 20 minutes later we lost it again. Due to the fire.
Then we got it back again at 10:30 pm, and we haven't lost it since.
No damage at all to our place. Mom and Dad lost many trees and a few shingles, but no other damage.
Mecha, you missed the apocalypse. And, also, an all day barbeque as we cooked off the contents of our freezer.
Point Pleasant Park will not be reopened until Spring.
The Rocky Horror Show is a huge amount of fun. The guy who plays Frank sounds like Tim Curry, and looks disturbingly like Sigourney Weaver.
Elena, the librarian here lives in your nabe, and her power went the same way. Where was the fire?
Do you have cable? Mine was out last night, and I forgot to check this morning. Can someone tape Angel for me, just in case it's not back on?
Point Pleasant Park is so sad.
