Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

It's only before my time in the sense that I paid no attention to popular music until I was in university, except when I watched "Top of the Pops" with my father in Edinburgh.

I can't even.

Rhythm of the Night was them, wasn't it?

Ow. Quick, need a new earworm!

I watched "Top of the Pops" with my father in Edinburgh.

I have very fond memories of mystifying my own father with why "I Don't Like Mondays" was just the coolest thing ever. That was an interesting time to be in Britain.

The main strange effect it had on me is that punks make me deeply nostalgic. When I see someone with a multi-coloured mohawk, wearing motorcycle boots and torn black clothes, I think "Aw, it's a punk! That's so sweet. And they put so much effort into it!" So far I've managed to resist pinching any cheeks. (You can take that however you want.)

Maybe you can't collect EI if you don't like Debarge.

If this proves to be the case, I'm moving into someone's basement.

I do recall him having the song from that movie about the plucky toaster oven that taught us all to laugh, though.

That's kind of like me and punching poncy goth kids. I haven't yet, but the day ain't over yet, either.

Wow. Hey everybody, I just saw the best TV show on Space last night. I hope it sticks around for a while.

CRAP! I forgot all about it! *doh*

Man, I was so excited. I almost wish I had never seen the shows before, so I could be seeing them for the first time, in the proper order.

I had never seen the pilot. In fact, I think the only ep I've seen all the way through is "Jaynestown". I was just about to get around to bittorrenting all the eps when the Space schedule was announced, so I figured I'd wait. I really wasn't all that impressed when I saw Jaynestown (I was like, these characters are all assholes, neat, but tough to take), but the pilot last night just blew my doors off. It was fabulous, the layering, the characterization right off the bat. And there wasn't enough action in there for FOX? FUCKOS. Did I mention it is an amazing setup for the series.

I'm on the bandwagon now. I'm just boggled that this series isn't going to be around. I mean, I realize why -- I'm a huge Joss fan, and with the initial schedule and the pre-empting for baseball all fall, I saw ONE ep (and maybe part of another? The Train Job maybe? Did that one air in NA?), but damn, someone else should have picked up that show. Just seeing the pilot hooked me -- maybe it should have been aired that way?

I was never as enamoured with the show as the rest of you guys but I'm sorry that I missed the two hour pilot. I guess I'll catch it the next time around.

As much of a mark as I am for Jaynestown, I'll readily admit it's not a good introduction to the series. It's a product of what's come before, as far as The Hero of Canton is concerned at least.

And Megan, NYAH! I watched it, then realized my roommate wanted to see it but was asleep, so I went out and bought tapes, waited 'til 3 or 4 AM and watched it again while I taped it. Oh, yeah.

Right. I'm off to find an income, before I starve to death waiting for EI to be processed.
