Thanks for all the fish.

Oh, Sue. Oh, no. And I taped over my copy. Damn.

She used inductive reasoning and an Ad Hominem argument. And then she bit me!

Ha! Pits of Isengard! I knew that scene looked familiar somehow....

It really is looking like Joss is building up to Frey with this season. I enjoyed this episode lots. I especially liked the way people didn't let Buffy's accusatory ranting stand, and actually challenged her on it. Btw, does anyone know where Angel went?

In other news, I heard some stuff about someone I kinda knew (in the lurking in a lot of small places where she posted sort of way) back in LoTR fandom. Apparently, since I left the fandom and she stopped posting, she moved to another state to live with a girlfriend she met on one of the lists, faked her suicide, and began posing as her girlfriend's new boyfriend. She's been posting under her new identity for... at least a few months. I think longer.

I guess my psycho-detection skills were on the fritz. I can usually pick out the nutcases, but I thought she was really nice. I felt sorry for her. Hell, I almost emailed her half a dozen times, which for me is about as close to corresponding with someone online as I get.

I fucking hate fandom sometimes.

Thanks for all the fish.

That is just ... I don't think 'odd' is a strong enough word.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

does anyone know where Angel went?

What's the last epsiode you folks have seen? Because we (in the US) saw "Calvary" last Wednesday and don't get another new one for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the fish.

We got 'Calvary' on Thursday, but Sue and RahRah were waiting to watch the episode during its Monday airing.

Yes, that's right, Angel and Buffy both air twice a week here.

Calvary was on Space on Thursday, Jon. But I was at school and didn't get a chance to see it, or get home to set my VCR. It was supposed to be on tonight after Buffy, but it's been preempted for the finale of Joe Dumb-as-a-box-of-hair. It's good to know there's not another episode for a while though. I was thinking we were going to end up almost two weeks behind.

Have you seen Buffy yet?

It's not the first time something like this has happened. Back when I was in Sentinel fandom, this woman pretended to be her own sister and claimed that she (the fan) had died. Then a few months later she returned as herself, claiming she had been hospitalised all that time and her sister had taken the opportunity to try to rid her (the fan) of the unsavory influence of her online friends. How telling them that she was dead would accomplish this, I was never quite sure. I think a few people believed her story at first, but she was exposed not long after she returned.

Personally, I think it's that teenager 'fantasizing about your own funeral and how sad everyone will be' thing, taken to an extremely disturbing level.

A person's concepts should exceed their vocabulary, or what's a metaphor?

It's called Pseudocide, when you kill off your online personna via rumor.

Used to be popular way back in the early days of hacking, especially when you became known for something illegal and the authorities started sniffing around.

This application of it though... That's just /sad/. It's bad enough when someone drama-queens themselves out for pity, but that's taking it a little far. Some people really need to just not exist in my reality.

RahRah, I htink some other Buffistas have experienced the same thing in the X-files Fandom, where someone faked their own death, then began posting as the widowed BF of the person. There are lots of crazy people in the world, and a lot of them are online.

Hey, has anyone picked up the Angel DVD's yet? I was at the mall, and I didn't see them in either place I looked for them. (MusicWorld and Walmart.)
