Art Crawl!!!

So, this morning while I was getting ready for work, I suddenly thought that I should watch Becoming -- given the limited time, I decided to just watch the 2nd half.

So good.

I think somebody last week mentioned a parallel between the Guardian telling Buffy that Axcaliber was only another weapon and Angelus taunting Buffy at the end of Becoming:

That's everything, huh? No weapons, no friends.

No hope. Take all that away and what's left?

So incomplete - - I meant to say, I think they've got something. I hope that they do.

Nobody

I might as well do this now. I was going to wait til about a quarter 'til 8.

(With apologies to John Denver's Leaving on a Jet Plane by way of Peter, Paul and Mary)

Leavin' the Buffyverse

VCRs are programmed - ready to go
It almost 8 o'clock, you know
We've one more hour, then we say goodbye
And now Dawn's in trouble, it's Tuesday night
Let's pray Joss does Buffy's send-off right
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry.

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you'll stay on TV
Slay me like you've never slain before.
I'm leavin' the Buffyverse
I don't know when I have felt much worse
Oh, Buff, I hate to go.

There weren't many times you let me down
Despite the retcon run-arounds
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every time I post, I'll think of you
Every last fanwank, I'll wank for you.
If you come back, I'll make Whedon my king.

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you'll stay on TV
Slay me like you've never slain before.
I'm leavin' the Buffyverse
I don't know when I have felt much worse
Oh, Buff, I hate to go.

Now I'll say goodbye to Willow
Xander you're my heart you know
My dear sweet Giles, how I wish you'd stay.
Spike, look at how far you've come
And Faith my dear you've really grown
Buff, without you, who will save the day?

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you'll stay on TV
Slay me like you've never slain before.
I'm leavin' the Buffyverse
I don't know when I have felt much worse
Oh, Buff, I hate to go.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I think I must be allergic to Plei's posts (on edit: and Cindy's too) today. Damn allergies.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Got the following email from my mother (the nonBuffy viewer):

Subject: Sincere Condolences

Tonight Buffy the Vampire ends.

So sorry.

Made me sad and cracked me up (Buffy the Vampire - ha!).

Don't make me come down there!

Haha! And also, *sniff*

Delurking for last buffy ever note. And all sniffly now after reading just that first verse of Cindy's.

I've thought about what I might say about a thousand times if I ever got the nerve to post. But all I can say is. Buffy Rocks. Joss Rocks. Buffistas Rock.

I am in this odd good mood today. I don't know why - but I do. I trust in Joss. He is going to end it great and it is going to be wonderful and sad and...wonderful.

As you can tell, I am not so much with the eloquent, which is why I only lurk here.

I want to echo my thanks to all of you, I love you for all your great insights about all things buffy and non-buffy and I hate you because I never get anything done at work anymore.

And, for fun, one of my favorite Buffy moments ever comes from one of the not-so-greatest of the eps:

Willow: Malcolm, Moloch... whatever he's called. The one boy that's really liked me, and he's a demon robot. What does that say about me?

Buffy: It doesn't say anything about you.

Willow: I mean, I thought I was really falling...

Buffy: (interrupts) Hey, did you forget? The one boy I've had the hots for since I've moved here turned out to be a vampire.

Xander: Right, and the teacher I had a crush on? Giant praying mantis? (goofy smile)

Willow: That's true. (smiles)

Xander: Yeah, that's life on the Hellmouth.

Buffy: Let's face it: none of us are ever gonna have a happy, normal relationship.

Xander: We're doomed!

Willow: Yeah!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Plei broke me. Damn it.

I am almost eager for the end: I want to have the entire story, complete, so I can start over again from the beginning

See, every time I watch a re-run, all I want to do is warn them what's coming. Mostly Xander. It's heartbreaking. I can't stand to see Xander with 2 eyes.

Unless something really horrible happens tonight, Xander losing an eye may be the most horrific moment of the series for me.
