I still think people would have liked Kennedy better without Tara's ghost overshadowing the relationship. It's the Riley effect.
I didn't think much of either the actress or character. I was ready for Willow to have a new love interest. I just didn't like Kennedy. I wonder what would have happened, had they followed through with the Willow/Anya vibe they teased us with, rather than giving us Kennedy.
No, for me it had nothing to do with Tara's ghost. I just hated the character. I thought she was annoying, brash, and overly forward (not in the relationship bit, though). She felt that because she was Willow's girlfriend, she was suddenly part of the Scoobies. Umm, no. Now, that's actually one of my issues. I'm very insular and protective with my "special groups", like say, the Buffistas.
I wanted Willow to have someone new. Kennedy? I wouldn't let her be friends with my dog.
Fair enough.
I think my character-hating facilities are lacking. The only character I've ever loathed was Xander in S5, and that's because he was mean to poor ickle Spikeums. (I was young, okay?) I probably wouldn't watch the Eve, Kennedy, and Sam Finn show, but I didn't want to throw things at any of them.
IMO, they tried too hard with Kennedy, and the effort showed. I think they realized the potentials coming in en masse were going to piss off a lot of the fans, especially after the huge negative reaction to the friends they brought in for Dawn episode 1 and then dropped, so they tried really hard to set up a fan favorite amond them.
Basically, she was the Poochie of season 7.
I was stuck on Kennedy (Frank Kennedy being one of Scarlett's husbands).
Oh, I missed that one. And she was Scarlett's second husband, and Kennedy is Willow's second girlfriend.
But there were better potentials. Rona? My poor dear sweet Amanda?
They backed a stinky horse.
If only she'd died on the way back to her home planet.
There's a fine line between sassy and bratty, and Kennedy was on the wrong side of it.
Basically, she was the Poochie of season 7.
"Whenever Kennedy's not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking, 'Wheeeere's Kennedy?' And rejoicing!"
