Of course, because it was. Angel and Cordy, on the other hand, were never really in love--althought they loved each other as friends--and were just drawn to the idea of being on love with each other out of frustration with their own lives/a desire to cling to some semblance of normality.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Victor-you are absolutely correct! Cordy had had the whole turning-into-a-demon-almost-dying-from-visions thing, while Angel had had the whole crazy Connor thing, through which Cordy stuck by him and comforted him. Also Angel seemed vulnerable after the loss of Connor, and they were both separated from Wesley, their oldest friend at AI.

Not to mention the also shared loss of Doyle, whom Cordy DID harbor deep feelings for, and who was one of Angel's first real friends, aside from Buffy.
