...but not too far off.
'Shindig'
Buffy 4: Grr. Arrgh.
This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.
Jon - yeah, I'll agree the Friday arts section is generally worthy (not so familiar with the Sunday), but I just so associate with the Herald with such classic, back-in-the-day headlines as "Terror Train".
That, and, I really don't like their main movie critic James Verniere (sp?). Both he and Peter Keough at the Phoenix have been around far. too. long. That said, one of the Hearld's music critics, Tristram Lazow (and I know I frelled the spelling of that one up), I remember fondly from his Boston Rock days (at least, I think I remember correctly?)
his Boston Rock days
You remember correctly. Except I think it's Lozaw. ;)
I think I may have started the whole "show don't tell" argument during the watch n' posts. Yikes. Sorry.
Looking so forward to Tuesday, although it's a shame a NY F2F never came together 'cause it's also my birthday! But it's not a good one (almost reaching JM's age!) so the quieter, the better.
I can't add anything to the great discussions I've read here lately, except that I agree that the Ancient Sisterhood of "We got all this great knowledge but we're hiding from those nasty Watchers so, sorry last 3000 years' worth of Slayers, you're on your own" was an asspull. And like Caleb, she died far too easily.
I do hope we get *resolutions* on Tuesday. Can Xander still work in construction with his disability? Does Willow join the coven at Devon? Does Giles get a job at the British Museum? etc. If we just get the regulars smiling triumphantly at each other over the (unspoiled speculation) smoking but sealed giant sinkhole where Walnut Gro-excuse me-Sunnydale used to be, then fade to black, I will be a sad panda.
And like Caleb, she died far too easily.
Caleb's not dead. Well, not usefully so, anyway.
Aha, true. "I got better!" OK, let me amend that too "he went down too easily".
I was able to fanwank Spike finding Buffy and Angel in the crypt but was annoyed that he saw the smooching moment. Besides, I was yelling "CUT OFF HIS HEAD, YOU BAD EXCUSE FOR C-WORDS! THE HEAD!!"
Why would you need to fanwank either? Spike was following Caleb, and Caleb found her. And Angel has a mysterious file. We honestly don't know what he knows.
Oh, I understand that, it just was having the last ex glaring in the corner as Buffy smooched the ex-ex rang a bit sitcom-y to me. Oh well. We have 48 minutes or so to sort it all out. Night all!
I just went back to look up a passage in Narcissus in Chains by Laurell Hamilton that I had wanted to share, because I thought I remembered it being a description that could be used for Faith as well:
The woman was tall, but built all of curves, voluptuous the way that movies stars in the fifties had been. She seemed soft, feminine, yet she stalked over the ground in a swaying glide, half sex on the hoof and half predatory, like she'd lure you in by playing victim, fuck you till you cried for mercy, then eat your face off.
Maybe not the soft and feminine part, but I think the "half sex on the hoof and half predatory... fuck you till you cried for mercy, then eat your face off" part definitely applies.
Just catching up after seeing "End of Days" last night. I did read almost every post.
The "show us" don't "tell us" debate irritated me only because it reminded me too much of my creative writing professor last year who wrote that on every page of every single person's paper. Although he did seem to like my subtle ode to "The Body" enough to give it an A. Oddly enough I titled the story "Smashed". I'm in way too deep at times.
As for 24. I love it. Kim must die.
As for my ranking of the seasons...this is so hard... 4,2,7,6,3,5,1...I can almost bet money no one has ever had that exact combo.
And for the article that listed "Doublemeat Palace" as the worst episode ever and also included "First Date". I don't agree. At all. What did my personal savior Jane Espenson ever do to you?
Also I fear that I am gonna get extra weepy come the final episode. Probably the whole damn thing. Even during the credits.
