You know, I just... I woke up, and I looked in the mirror, and I thought, hey, what's with all the sin? I need to change. I'm... I'm dirty. I'm, I'm bad with the... sex and the envy and that, that loud music us kids listen to nowadays.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Sarah's slacking off on the martial arts training plus Pruitt's departure really started to show up in the later seasons.

Grrrr.

But we all know how I feel about that.

And I don't think it's slacking off. I can go three years between punches and look better than her. And if I didn't? Someone would yell at me and make me do it right.

So I do kinda put blame on the Pruitt departure.

Chicks and fighting hits (predictably) close to home, so I admit I have made up my own rationale for this which has no basis in any fact to which I've been made privy -- she just didn't care any more, and no one dared call her on it..

My narrow little mind can fathom no other explanation.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

slacking off on the martial arts training

Still not convinced there was any to slack off on.

And there is also that. She's certainly not the brown belt they claimed (this claim is what got me to watch the show, BTW).

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think that SMG probably was taking classes the first couple years, and between that and Pruit's very grounded-in-real-fighting choreography it looked better. She does have good, limber dancer extension in her kicks.

When Dark!Willow took on Buffy, AH really put SMG to shame. There are little things, but they're teachable things.

WROD!! That is why it was the only time I ever found myself cheering against Buffy. It was beyond my control. AH was just so much better...she SHOULD have kicked her ass. That simple.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

AH was just so much better...she SHOULD have kicked her ass. That simple.

And she would have, too, if it wasn't for that meddling Giles....

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I liked the slo-mo in the "80s training montage" but as others have noted, it only works for me if I close my eyes during the punching bag bit. I can ignore the obvious double doing the backflips, but those punches are painful. To me, that is. Clearly not to the punching bag.

Or at least that's my understanding of how it works. I don't argue that it's squicky for someone over 20 to sleep with someone under 16.

Can't recall the numbers now, but a huge proportion of teenage births stem from these kind of relationships. Even squickier.

And, depending on how much force she put into them, they may have been pretty painful to SMG, too.

I feel pretty confident she emerged completely unscathed.
