I don't see our girl through rose-tinting, but I love her, and am always a little shocked at the degree of Buffy-hate in fandom.
I don't either. I understand her. I started to read (with great interest, but something happened and I lost my spot) Hec's discussion the other day, about identifying with characters. I do identify with Buffy, but um, not in a transferry way (I hope). I get why she is who and what she is. I don't see her with rose-tinting either, but she's all right in my book, perhaps because I have a lot of warts on my own character.
(Esp. by a certain not to be named section.)
The Spoldemorts? I know whom you mean. Funny thing is, some of my more (shall we say because at least one lurks) passionate B/A shipping Bronzer friends has been sort of down on Buffy because of Spoldermort. I say funny, because it seems both groups of shippers are not happy with her.
I started liking Buffy when it seems many people stopped.
Me too. I liked her best in Season 6, although I think my liking of her started when her mother died. Before that I didn't dislike her, she just wasn't a character I could identify with.
I'm not one of those people.
I never stopped liking Buffy. I just wanted to hug her and feed her comfort food until she was more herself.
I say funny, because it seems both groups of shippers are not happy with her.
Which is so weird (and I know I've specifically mentioned this to you before, Cin) because WHY THE HELL ARE YOU SHIPPING THEM WHEN YOU DON'T LIKE HER???
It seems strange to 'ship a pairing when you violently loathe one of the two parties in the 'ship.
I would be inclined to agree, Sean.
The Spoldemorts?
BWAH! Yes, the Spoldemorts.
That just reminded me of a new portmanteau I learnt today in the LJ crossover challenge -- Spicey.
Mmmm. Finger-licking good.
Spicey.
Dare I even ask? Please say it isn't Spike/Pacey. Lie if you have to.
