We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Smonster, if you go to the full credits page, it looks like they do share a producer.

It's weird.

By jove, lyra jane, i think you've got it!

I had to stop reading the TWOP recaps. They were making me sad and irritated (Ganya or death!). I felt like Buffy was getting judged by a much higher standard than, say, Smallville. It didn't feel funny. It felt mean.

That said, I'm probably going to go read the recap. My 'Chosen' love is strong enough to withstand ace and sep.

The evil is this way?

My objection to the TwoP recap is that it seems like it's snark for the sake of snark. Me not so much a fan of that, esp. when it comes to a show like "Buffy."

Nobody

Narrator speaks for me. I stopped reading their Buffy recaps a long time ago, for just that reason. I still read the Six Feet Under recaps, and got an email announcing the Buffy finale recap, and thought I'd try it for old times sake.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

They're paid to be snarky. Plus, they used to really love the show and then lost the love and became bitter, so I think it's personal.

I'm old school. Like Happy Shopper.

The only recaps I can read any more are the Alias ones, mostly because Regina is seriously, laugh-out-loud funny, and she still feels the love for the show, and so is capable of being snarky in a good way.

I'm not sure that this level of personal snark is appropriate. If the recappers have lost the love and can't get past that, then maybe they should get out of the recapping. (IIRC, the "Roswell" recapper had to get out because he really couldn't take what that show had become.) I don't mean that only raves can be posted. But this level of venom is just not OK to me. It seems to me at times that they snark about stuff that has always been in the show and act like it's some new thing. Which to me means that too much perspective has been lost.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

It's the Angel recaps that did it for me. The Wes hatred was so bile-laden I couldn't figure out what show they were watching. You'd have to bend the show so much to even snarkily pretend that Wes was anything like he was on Buffy (or even early Angel), StB excepted, that it wasn't the show that was being aired.

Edited for errant comma.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I haven't read a Smallville recap in forever, but I adore Omar. He's very in tune with my "realism" about the series. Jessica recapped X-Files way after it had failed her, and with very little bitterness. It's possible.

I don't want to have to hate it too to appreciate the writing.

Does anyone else find it odd or at least ironic that you can buy the Urn of Osiris on Ebay now?

Wow. Nice to hear that it's not just me and amyth on the twop bile front. Omar does seem to have a good handle on the affectionate mocking thing.

I mean, when the recaps for Buffy are way harsher than they are for Smallville, it indicates a problem for me.

At this point, our very own MattTBF is my One True Recapper. Smart, succinct, and piss yer pants funny.
