Damn, Teppy, there go the allergies again.

They're on the bus, Teppy. They're on the bus.
Yeah. They had the forethought to clear out the high school at the end of season 3, why did they not think to clear out the Summers household?
The cross Angel gave her
No, that's on eBay.
Ah! My eyes. I tried catching up on all the posts but I think I'm getting eyestrain. Ow!
Anyway, I had to stop a hundred plus from the current chatter but I just wanted to make a few comments.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the start of the season none of the creative staff knew if SMG was going to sign on for another season or not? That in itself must have severly impacted their ability to craft the arc for the season.
Anyway, for me the only major failure of the season was its treatment of the core characters. I wanted this season to be loaded with resolution, not just the last episode but many loose plot or interpersonal threads. Throughout the season. When it's time for closure tripling the size of the speaking cast is not a good idea. Ultimately I felt short changed on Willow, Xander and Giles.
Within the boundaries of the plot that S7 gave us, this is what I've had wanted changed in my perfect world.
1) Once the First was identified I'd have liked to have seen the deathtoll start climbing. I'd have wittled at the potentials harder and leave a smaller cast for the latter episodes. Those potentials that would have survived that long would have 'earned' the right to steal more of our limited time with the core four.
2) Caleb would have turned up a few episodes earlier. Then we'd have longer to bask in the best villain dialogue since the Mayor. Caleb was so much more entertaining than the First.
3) Anya would have died killing Caleb. Vengeance Demon Champion of Women vs The Ultimate Misogynist.
4) Spike would have got it exactly the way he did. That really was perfect.
5) I'd have paid good money to have had just one last scene before the Grr Argh!:
A man carrying a backpack stands at the lip of the Sunnydale Crater. He has obviously walked a long way to get here and now facing the desolation he is practically dumbfounded. His face shows a little confusion and possibly regret. His eyebrow raises -
OZ - "Oh."
The cross Angel gave her
Except this. This is on eBay.
All I thought about was the destruction of the family photos (which would be the one thing I'd grab if I had to jump out of the window to escape a fire).
That is the single most common answer to the question of "what would you try to save from the house in a fire."
People want to save their photos. They consider everything else replacable, provided all people make it out.
The Class Protector Award.
Didn't that get broke? Did we ever see if she kept it anyway?

I bet she kept it. Even if it was in a box.
OZ!
I'm sure they stuck some things on the bus. Mr. Gordo is on the bus.
