What I hurt the most about Anya dying was her being left behind, not being found. Just lying there.
Yes, this.
t sniff
I need more wine...
Someone said upthread that they thought Andrew lied when he told Xander that Anya died saving his life. Did I misread this? Do other folks think that? I thought it was basically true, if perhaps stretching the facts a teeny bit.
Dork tower .... very funny.
Well, Buffy sharing the power really isn't about feminism. It's about the hero's journey, where the final stage is the return with the elixir, which the hero then shares with everyone.
AHEM THESE ARE NOT RIO CAPS THEY ARE KRAKATOA CAPS WHICH ARE VERY DIFFERENT AND ALSO VERY EXHILARATING AND DUDE YOU OBVIOUSLY DID NOT HANG OUT AT TT IN THE KRAKATOA-HOLDING FOLDERS
ALL ASSCAPS LOOK ALIKE! NOPE, I ONLY LURKED IN THE TT BUFFY THREADS AND THE ANGEL THREADS, AND ONLY WHEN I WAS REALLY BORED AT WORK AND NOTHING WAS HAPPENING ON MY RACING BOARDS!
Ahem. No more asscaps. Being good now.
Cereal? I thought Andrew telling Xander a lie about Anya saving him was all about Andrew using his "storytelling" for a good reason for a change.

He wasn't lying, he was storytelling. The moment when Andrew decided to tell Xander that Anya died heroically was the only thing in the episode that made me tear up.

Is this how the prototypical Hero's Journey always ends, with the sharing of the elixir/power/whatever?
Me? I loved it. Maybe if I thought harder about it, there might be a few things I could bring up to say, "Well, but this part blah blah blah" or "I wish they'd done ha ha ha," but you know what? Not gonna do it.
This was a satisfying ending for me. (But let's face it, after the XF debaucle, 43 minutes of Giles picking his nose would have been satisfying. Okay, maybe not, but you get my point.) I laughed a lot, I cried, I was literally on the edge of my seat several times.
It's been a really great two years. If only I'd gotten on the Buffytrain sooner!
And can I have seasons 4-7 on DVD, like, now??
