I think it's also a pretty safe bet that we'd be needing a new thread in pretty short order, as I'm fairly certain that we'll talk enough after the rest of us have seen it to finish off this one. If that is or could influence anyone's opinion on the new vs. renaming issue.

Did TTT come out the same week in 2002 that RotK is due out (this coming week) in 2003? I only ask, because we opened the TTT thread on 12/16/02, and didn't have 3000 posts until 1/12/03 (so--about a month later). The TTT is now at about 7100 posts, I think.

You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

Yes, all three movies have come out during roughly the same week in December.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'd prefer a new thread because otherwise the current beautiful title disappears forever.

That is a good point. In that case, let's name the dog Strider.

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

New thread, and I favor "Well, I'm back" for sentmental reasons, but the "We named thedog Strider" is pretty damn funny and is more in the spirit of the first thread title.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

We will have to change the blurb to "Aragorn is finally King, Legolas is still the prettiest, and Sam will still kill you if you try anything."

Swouncing

I like "Well, I'm back" - it both goes well with the "Return" word in RotK as well as having a meaning of its own.

Me too, Nilly.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

So, no "Dude, Seriously, Where's My Precious?"

Sniff. Okay, I'll live.

Up with the sun

Aragorn is finally King, Legolas is still the prettiest, and Sam will still kill you if you try anything

Don't some people think the first part of this is a spoiler? I don't get it, 'cause books 50 years old, but I have seen people spoiler-cutting it in the movies thread.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've never read the books, but it seems pretty well obvious that Aragorn is who they mean when they say "return of the king." I mean, it's not Elvis, right?
