I bop to Wittgenstein. -- Nutty

But, most importantly, a subcommunity's concerns also should NOT override the health of the greater community.

Oh, absolutely. I quite agree. And it's not like I'll lose all my SV fandom when/if I leave the SV thread here, or that SV here is the most vibrant section of SV fandom as a whole; most of my mixing with it is on LJ already. I just wanted to air/share/put on record the bitterness.

So that if the thread turned into a gigantic failure, in whatever way, I could say 'told you so'. Not that I'm expecting it to; not that I want it to. But you know. Trying to wring a positive from every situation.

Nobody

I am not sure whether or not we voted 50% +1 or for a true majority. This would exclude no preference votes either way.

Sophia, without checking 50% + 1 was the definition of "true majority". That "majority" was subject to a special ballot to see if we meant 50% + 1, or if we meant "most votes". 50% + 1 is the defintion that won.

Maybe you're confusing it with higher majority, which was voted down the first time?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am not sure whether or not we voted 50% +1 or for a true majority.

50% +1 is a true majority, and that's what we voted for.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

The two posts that explain it all are these:

Jon B. "Sunnydale Press" Mar 5, 2003 12:00:05 am PST

This was the vote for majority versus plurality for questions where there are more than two choices on the ballot. The outcome of that vote was what Jesse quoted here, but it doesn't really apply, because none of the questions had more than two options. No Preference is not an option, it's just a way of registering no opinion on the matter.

Nilly summarized the way No Preference is handled here:

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Thanks! I could not remember whether we voted for a majority or a plurality! We really need a cheat sheet.

Also, I woke up at 2:30 am this morning and haven't been back to sleep so I may be a little slow!

Might I suggest "Volume" instead of "Season" as in "Boxed Set, Volume 1: Farscape, Smallville, due South" (or whatever order they should go in).

Thrive to spite them

I just wanted to apologize if I made anyone uncomfortable earlier. I didn't mean to, I was...well I wasn't feeling my best because of stuff that happened yesterday and I was letting my feelings bleed over.

No worries, askye. I figure the changes are going to throw a few people for a few loops of whatever kind.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Heh.

I think my sad admission is that I think I'd have preferred to see consolidation that took us back to the WX-era threads only. (And, of course, the house keeping.)

I may well be a cranky old man. (IOW, I'd have whacked Music, Hobbits, and Movies.)

(And, you know, after my coffee, I'm sure I'll be fine with it. Blah blah blah, needs of the many and all.)
