Joyce: You don't think it's too obvious? I think I look like I have a cat on my head. Buffy: But a very well groomed cat. Joyce: Well that's a comfort.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

bippy ≠ Bippity boppity boo

And, while we're on the subject (somehow):

Bippity boppity boo ≠ doobie-doobie-doo

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

which bears absolutely no relation to Scoobie-doobie-doo

Ann, that's a ferret.

If we ever start a general TV thread, "Buffista Bippy Drive" must be the title of TV1.

Since nobody's given any details on where the word comes from, it's from a '60s TV show called Laugh-In. Think of it as sort of a prototype for both SNL and Airplane.

The gags flew fast and furious, often one-liners. Some sketches, often with recurring characters. It included lots of catch phrases, including "Sock it to me!"

Of the regular cast, Goldie Hawn is probably best known today. Her persona was -- please forgive the sexist phrase, but no other fits -- the dumb blonde.

All is well that ends in pizza.

bippy ≠ Bippity boppity boo

And, while we're on the subject (somehow):

Bippity boppity boo ≠ doobie-doobie-doo

But then again, what does?

Oh, sweet, Jebus, I just realised: We're nattering.

Bad wizard, bad. Back to Isengard (Which, btw, ≠ Unseen Univesity, but you can't prove it by me) with you!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

All I'm saying is that we probably don't have to worry quite so much about using "et al." in a thread title, because a little thread drift won't kill us.

I'm with DX. I think excluding "et al." is being overly cautious. Plus, latin is classy.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

As a response to bitterness, I'm going to go all impolitic and pull an Allyson (and I mean that in the best way possible):

Yes, members of the greater community did have a part in deciding in what would happen to your subcommunity. Absolutely. But also, members of your subcommunity (like me with smallville for instance) also voted for it.

But, most importantly, a subcommunity's concerns also should NOT override the health of the greater community. While it might not be an issue right now, with 1000s of one liners in the deathmatch on hold in Elena's absence and with the RQG off, it was an issue when this conversation started.

Moreover, if the subcommunity is sufficiently SUB and COMMUNAL doesn't that mean it could easily survive somewhere else too? If my concern is that my subcommunity of People Who Like Plaid is going to be overrun by the Visigoths, then I can move my subcommunity to PF or WX and still exist. Cause a subcommunity is a neat little self-contained protectable unit - it should be able to survive anywhere irrespective of the greater outer community, right?

Buffistas was definitely a vibrant subcommunity of TT and look at how that has worked out.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Um-- I really don't have time, but could Nutty or Jon please go back and check the results of what a "majority" meant-- because I am not sure whether or not we voted 50% +1 or for a true majority. This would exclude no preference votes either way.
