"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Not a thread. How about a taking out a banner ad somewhere?

TWOP - I mean all the banners are doing it these days.

A full page ad in Variety would be a bit much, wouldn't it?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Far too much. Plus, the wrong audience.

Plus, er, I was kidding.

Oh, so was I. But the thought was funny. And it's the thought that counts (or something).

brillig

I'm not kidding, but I can afford neither lawyers nor ads in Variety.

Oh, I'm still all for "Still Flying". That's why it was Firefly 5 and not Firefly 3.

I'm gonna be contrary, and admit I don't like "Still Flying." Because it's not, and I'm still bitter.

They're still traversing the skies in the UK, and a shiny new rocket is under construction. That's flying in my book.

Firefly 3: Too Damned Pretty to Die?

Ooh, this I like.

As far as legal action goes...eh. Given the amount we're talking, which would be the price of the semi-dedicated server for the brief time we used it, I think it'd be more trouble than it's worth. As far as the data goes - as far as I understand, you can't recover on something that doesn't have any monetary value. Unless you're suggesting they could be made to restore whatever was lost - assuming they can even do so.

Some strongly worded communications with the BBB and any sites that provide info on hosting services would be a better route, I think.

I thought small claims court is very cheap. When somebody screws you out of small sums that is what it is there for. And I'm not talking data, but the difference between semi-dedicated server and the server before it, plus downtime where we paid for service we did not receive.

My wish to do some retalation is not just based on emotional desire for revenge - though I'm not pretending it is not there. It is not a good thing to be seen as group that can be pushed around and has the ability to raise money. We paid a ransom, and hostrocket hasn't suffered. My feeling is that people who screw with us should pay a price. It saves trouble in the long run.

Plus we could bill for ita's time. (Have to check with our Buffista lawyers, but I think this is legit - and if we could do this, it should go to ita.)

Cool with "If wishes were horses" or "Too damned pretty to die."

Stands in the bitter corner with Victor, eating bitter herbs and drinking erm... something with bitters. I don't like Still Flying at all. Maybe if/when the film makes it to a theatrical release, which I'm not banking on, 'til it's in a theater near me.
