Well, I meant that, too. The technical stuff that not every needs to be in on to do.
Bureaucracy 2: Like Sartre, Only Longer
A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Maintenance (to me) is starting new threads when old ones roll over, resetting passwords, fixing slugs, whiting out shit.
What Plei said.
Thread creation wasn't just one of the things we intended to vote on - it was probably the biggest impetus to go to voting at all, IIRC.
But I think the difficulty we're having is whether consolidating the Buffy threads, which originally started this discussion, falls under board maintenance. I can see that being considered maintenance, but other consolidation of threads is a stretch. To me at least.
I had the same understaning of "board mainenance" as Sophia: behind-the-scenes stuff that does not directly affect the rank/file Buffista. I would include all private Stompy talk, any technical stuff, etc.
My rule of thumb: if it would look bad (high-handed) to do X without a vote, then a vote is necessary. Boring as that may be, voting is a way for us all to feel we've been listened to. Like, you know, a parliamentary grooming session.
Jon-- I really did mean that, too. It is all in one big lump in my haed as stuff tech people do. It was actually added because someone (ita I think) was afraid we'd also have to go through and vote on all the stuff on the features still to be coded list.
I absolutely think that consolidated Previously and Buffy is maintainance. Clsong the Atlantic Canadians seems bigger to me, for example. Starting any new thread is what the impulse to vote orginally started from and I would feel uncomfortable starting one without it, even if it was sure to win , and to not generate any discussion except the name (as I think the Tim thread would)
Jon-- I really did mean that, too.
Sorry -- I got that. I didn't mean to sound like I was disagreeing.
Sorry -- I got that. I didn't mean to sound like I was disagreeing.
I didn't either. I just want a list.
I actually didn't list those things because I feel it is so self evident that no sane person would want to vote on, say reseting my password, but I can imagine a few people want to vote on moving to this CVS thing which I don't even understand, but which I think is silly to vote on.
Anyway-- now someone is going to come along and want to vote on my password.
So-- does someone want to propose the Tim thread? I am sick of proposing myself, but I think we should do it, as it will cut the vote or not to vote stuff, which is what I was hoping voting would take away.
I don't see what the rush is. Let's wait and see what shows are going to be in the fall first. Frankly, I think this can all wait until at least after the F2F.
