A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Exemptions: Thread naming, disciplinary action against trolls (although the process itself could come up for a vote at some point) and tasks currently performed by Stompy Feet, including but not limited to board maintenance.

"I thought threads were exempt" etc

Thread creation does not fall under any of those exemptions. In fact, it was one of the things that we specifically said we would be voting on.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm not at all worried that a thread for Tim's new show wouldn't pass.

Me too. I think it's a gimme, so why not go ahead and honor the process. Even in the Senate on pro forma votes they do the votes.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

So, can we get a clear definition of "board maintenance", for clarity?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Well, when I wrote that I sort of meant things that I didn't understand about technical things that made the board happen. Like say, this CVS thing.

Is that clear. Maybe someone who understands tech stuff should write a definition.

Huh.

That's development in my mind, but not maintenance. Maintenance (to me) is starting new threads when old ones roll over, resetting passwords, fixing slugs, whiting out shit.

Well, I meant that, too. The technical stuff that not every needs to be in on to do.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Thread creation wasn't just one of the things we intended to vote on - it was probably the biggest impetus to go to voting at all, IIRC.

But I think the difficulty we're having is whether consolidating the Buffy threads, which originally started this discussion, falls under board maintenance. I can see that being considered maintenance, but other consolidation of threads is a stretch. To me at least.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I had the same understaning of "board mainenance" as Sophia: behind-the-scenes stuff that does not directly affect the rank/file Buffista. I would include all private Stompy talk, any technical stuff, etc.

My rule of thumb: if it would look bad (high-handed) to do X without a vote, then a vote is necessary. Boring as that may be, voting is a way for us all to feel we've been listened to. Like, you know, a parliamentary grooming session.
