I am in favor of the Buffista biz thread.

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Are the guidelines acceptable? I mean, we want Buffistas to be able to discuss their businesses and strategize and such, but do you think we should have a policy on excessive pimpery?
I know long-time Buffistas will know the etiquette, and I don't think we'd have a deluge of lurkers suddenly appearing, but it's best to be proactive about such.
Perhaps make it part of the thread blurb, if this thing passes the vote: "Promoting your business and skills is acceptable, but this is primarily a networking and solution-sharing thread: excessive over-promotion of services is not on par with Buffistas.org etiquette, and will be dealt with appropriately by Stompies?"
but do you think we should have a policy on excessive pimpery?
We're often self-correcting. I'm not at all against us having a clear policy but I think we're not bad at either bopping people on the nose or just not engaging when they don't conform to ever-changing community standards.
And I like the idea of a thread.

True dat. Maybe just "Excessive/inappropriate business-promo spamming will get you stomped like the wrath of Godzilla."

In favor!
My plan is to promote Diablo Sound to every theme park owner and operator on the board.
Honey, you forgot to promote to all the Buffistas who own cruise ships. It's really a good thing you have me around.
Ehm. On topic, I think this is a great thread idea.
Well, just don't do it EXCESSIVELY, ND.
We can take it out -- I'm pulling all this stuff out my...ear.
I support leaving the excessive promotion language in. A vague disclaimer is nobody's friend...right?
As a person who has spent way too much time thinking about marketing and editing...accounting and, ya know, everything except what I am actually good at...I could really use the support of this thread!
