but do you think we should have a policy on excessive pimpery?
We're often self-correcting. I'm not at all against us having a clear policy but I think we're not bad at either bopping people on the nose or just not engaging when they don't conform to ever-changing community standards.
And I like the idea of a thread.

True dat. Maybe just "Excessive/inappropriate business-promo spamming will get you stomped like the wrath of Godzilla."

My plan is to promote Diablo Sound to every theme park owner and operator on the board.
Honey, you forgot to promote to all the Buffistas who own cruise ships. It's really a good thing you have me around.
Ehm. On topic, I think this is a great thread idea.
Well, just don't do it EXCESSIVELY, ND.
We can take it out -- I'm pulling all this stuff out my...ear.
I support leaving the excessive promotion language in. A vague disclaimer is nobody's friend...right?
As a person who has spent way too much time thinking about marketing and editing...accounting and, ya know, everything except what I am actually good at...I could really use the support of this thread!
I agree on leaving the antispammy language in place -- I don't think any of us would actually *do* it, but I'd rather have the clear line there. I also think it might reassure any folk who aren't comfortable with a biz thread, not that I've seen anyone speak up on that side yet.
Y'all, I am so very excited by this idea. I spend stupid time reading shit like freelancing blogs when I should be working -- and I'd so much rather get the same tips and reassurances from actual buffista human freaks. I really see it working like the tech thread, where, yeah, some of the same factual info might be out there somewhere else in a lot of cases, but isn't it so much cooler to talk to you people???
Too lazy to look it up, but does anyone else remember the "Shop at our Web site and see what we have!" spammer from some years ago? The stompies just banned the address and (as far as I know) never heard anything more.
So I'm not concerned with spamming issues.
I'm not likely to frequent an entrepreneurs' thread myself, but as long as our bandwidth can handle it, I also don't see any objection.
