Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, but in short: I think the current threads work fine as they are.

brillig

Suffice it to say that I am perfectly content with the status quo in the TV threads, and would find the destruction of any of the current threads (other than Comedy, I suppose, but I'm sure that the people who frequent it feel otherwise) would lessen, not improve, my personal experience of using the board. But if I'm in a minority, so be it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

In bureau Megan joked:

Frankly, I'd rather just have a white-font TV thread and be done with it.

Or didn't joke. I don't know. But it sounds good to me. It would be pretty simple:

Title of show

and then put all sorts of wonderful commenterary and thought-provoking what have you here white fonted so as to protect the have not yet viewed so they could remain unspoiled.

During a watch and post it would be easy enough to highlight-as-you-go and it would also be easy to scroll past the shows that weren't of interest or were yet unviewed.

hip deep in pie

I don't understand this. "Seek out" the thread? It's not hidden, or anything. It's 2 clicks once you're logged in.

I don't want to subscribe to the thread to discuss one show out of however many others that are being discussed.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

The only thing that seems "broken" to me (based on the amount of conversation about it) is Boxed Set, but I have no clue how to fix it. Whenever a new show airs, there is always at least one or two people asking where to discuss it, and most often they are pointed (sometimes incorrectly) to Boxed Set, which leads me to think something isn't working.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The idea of an all white font discussion thread makes me tense. It's irritating enough for spoiler lite, and that's mostly announcements. iPhone might be getting copy and paste, but Symbian isn't any time soon.

When was it incorrect, and what's the harm in asking?

No harm in asking, but it indicates that it is difficult to navigate the site (most often these are experienced users, not newbies). I'll have to search out specific examples (if we really need them), but I've seen it in Natter and Bureaucracy more than once. I know it's incorrect on occasion because it's led to the millionth discussion of why Boxed Set has problems. Not that I know how to solve them, or even that they can be solved better than they are currently, just that it does arise as an issue often.

If people are asking where discussion is because they can't work out to click on Film and TV Discussion it's a different problem than if it seemed a harmless enough question to ask without bothering to click, or if they just didn't know if something qualified, which is why I ask.

Also, it doesn't have to be the wrong answer for it to start this discussion, which is another reason I ask--I answer it a lot, and haven't noticed anyone telling me I steered them wrong.
