Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
A Humble Proposal:
I propose the creation of a Gaming Thread (clever title to come later), in which people could discuss games: board, video and tabletop RPG and all attendant news, developments and ancillary subjects thereof.
Seems simple enough. Discussion to begin…NOW!!
Here is a question (keep in mind I know nozzink about gaming): is it a thread in which gaming will happen? Or for discussion only?
(And I vaguely wonder, is Sang Sacre still alive, and is that kind of a Buffista-specific RPG?)
The only argument against it I can see is the thread proliferation issue.
Personally, I'd love a gaming thread. I didn't even realise we had other gamers here - the posts must have come up in topics I don't always read.

I suppose gaming could happen there, though I think it would be annoying to the people playing the game, trying to find their game-specific posts in a whole slew of "But d20 rawks!" posts.

I think it would primarily be a thread for gaming discussion. I love Play By Post gaming, and it works really well, but it generally requires a threaded board, and works best on a BB system that allows the easy creation of aliases.
This board, as much as I love it, probably isn't suitable for actual play, as the games would all be intermingled in the thread, unless we created a new thread for each game, and nobody wants that.
Anyway, I'm very down for a gaming discussion thread, and we could even use it to organize online games, and find some other location for actual play.
In fact, if this gets off the ground, I may try and finally use one of the domains I've owned forever and done nothing with to setup a private Play by Post board, if there's interest.

Yeah, we gots a few. I don't think they post about it much because the other threads don't really lend themselves to the topic.

I'd agree -- it's kind of a necessary condition of a game that people actually be aware that they're playing a game, which is why play-by-post tends to be a little more structured (at least to the extent of having a place set aside for that specific game. I see this as more of a general talk about whatever games you're into discussion thread. Akin to literary, music, movies...
Which is why (really weirdly, for me) I'm for it. Yes, the world can end any time now.
Also,
ps3 roolz. xbox droolz.
Yeah Play By Post (PBP) wouldn't work, but I think that's a self-solving problem. Any gamer would only have to go through about a half hour of:
"I rolled a 12."
"I like Mutants and Masterminds, but not its so-called 'magic system'."
"I use House Rule X."
"I play a half-orc with a third eye."
"You hit the dragon. Roll damage."
"GURPS is da bomb, yo."
"GURPS is for slack-headed freaks. D&D roolz."
"Shadowrun. IJS."
"I got it for six hit points."
"GM tips anyone?"
"Dude, I said roll for damage."
"Anyone play Tunnels & Trolls?"
"I did, I hit it for six."
"Star Wars RPG: Sucks or not?"
"Let's go to another board."
Since this came up while I am working on my Free RPG Day offering before it goes off the printer, I guess you can suspect where I fall in this discussion...
CaBil! I was hoping you'd show up.
