You may or may not be aware of the massive amounts of agita that have been caused by basically every new thread, and the desire on the part of some people to keep the total number of threads lower rather than higher.
I am aware of it, and I do get why we don't want new threads created willy-nilly. I don't understand why it is so important to people not to continue this particular thread.
edit: But I posted that in the Firefly thread to vent. If I wanted to contribute to the discussion in this thead I would have posted it here.
When is this coming to a vote?
The Firefly thread is not backchannel. What's currently being posted over there is part of this conversation.
I'm sorry. I hadn't intended it to be.
I understand that some folks are attached to the thread and don't want it shelved, but I'm questioning is the use of language like "dying" and "killing" to describe the closing of a thread. I assume it's either hyperbole or people are honestly trying to describe what they truly feel, but either way I find it redirects the debate in not very helpful ways.
I dunno. Maybe there isn't a debate here. Some people think a thread can be closed when there's no new media to discuss in it, hence they think we should close the thread. Others feel the threads are here primarily for the members who want to be there, regardless of whether or not there's new content to discuss. Neither side, I suspect, will be swayed by the other's arguments, in fact I'm guessing both sides are somewhat angered/annoyed by the other's response. So that's it, just frustration no debate.
Yes I think at this point there's not really anything else to be said on either side. I'm just waiting for the polls to open.
This is actually an issue I have no opinion on, so I'll probably be skipping he vote on this one.
maybe the vote should include a "doesn't matter either way" type of choice. I am curious how many don't care either way. Of course, if that gets the most votes, then what do we do?

I think if I proposed closing the Buffy and Angel topics -- those shows are dead, Buffy comics go in Jossverse -- and got a few seconds and thirds to put it to voting, the board would go nuts. People arrived at this site for different reasons, and for some of those people it will have been Firefly. Mostly, it will have been Buffy and Angel.
Basically, it's an emotional reaction with Firefly. Which I'm absolutely sure you'd get with Buffy and Angel, too.
