Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, here's a question: can we take away the post limit on that thread?

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

The poor little thread with barely any traffic doesn't feel right to me--it's sadder than no thread at all, since it's highlighting how done Firefly is.

This is how I feel about it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

can we take away the post limit on that thread?

Not without cheating in the code. I guess I could put something in so that not every thread caps at 10K, but at that point I'd rather just start another thread because it's disproportionate bother.

Ah. Oh well.

While my feelings about not starting a new thread that will have a handful of occasional but impassioned users are pretty ambivalent, my feelings about asking ita and other B.org programmers to modify the way board architecture works (and possibly risk operational hiccups) to stretch the current thread for those same users amounts to a big "Oh HELL NO!"

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

I'm behind, but:

I guess I see the Firefly thread as a place that for a few posts a week I get to hear a little bit about something that was so short lived, but deserved better.

Having people pop in with the latest links, stories and conversions can make my day.

The show may have stopped, but it gives me comfort to hear little bits of info here and there. Most of us do not have the time nor the inclination to spend hours in the remaining full fledged Firefly bastions.

Is *exactly* how I feel. (The Buffista HiveMind, she is strong.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Plate of shrimp! I was just singing the sweater song the other day for some reason. And DH had never heard it, what with living most of his childhood overseas, the poor Amreican-pop-culture deprived man.

I would selfishly like the Firefly thread to stay open so I don't have to read about it in Boxed Set or Minearverse.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I don't see Firefly as important in our history the way Buffy/Angel is. We didn't bring it over from TT, and its existence in the header seems awkward now. I don't see a reason to create a new thread aside from the emotional attachment some have to it.

I mean, the thread is dead. It's a ghost ship.

bon bon - Oct 26, 2007 8:19:44 am PDT #7894 of 10289
It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

What Allyson said-- also the header isn't particularly accurate anyway, let's face it, so arguing for the retention of a thread based on it seems inapposite.

Actually, the header is very relevant. I suspect any attempt to include VM, BSG, SV or any other show in the header would have met with strong opposition. Firefly's inclusion just seemed, well, right. Which supports the notion that the Firefly thread has, to some limited extent, a cultural entitlement that almost every other thread lacks.
