Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
I'd be down with the idea of limiting the shows to be discussed in the Comedy thread to, say, The Office, 30 Rock, and HIMYM, or some similar grouping. I expect The Office will take up most of the discussion, but I think there are a few other comedy shows that would generate some discussion as well.
Pretty much, though, anywhere I can talk about The Office will make me happy.
Regarding The Office, if someone wants to propose a thread for it, I would enthusiastically support it. I'd love to have a thread devoted to The Office. But should no one feel inclined, I think the Comedy thread will support the discussion just fine either way.
Actually I brought up the idea of a separate thread for The Office because I don't watch it, and would rather see the brief mentions of HIMYM and TDS in Natter than wade through a mostly- Office comedy thread, but it doesn't seem right for me to propose a thread for a show I don't watch. I was just interested what other HIMYM, or for that matter 30 Rock or My Name is Earl, watchers thought about it.
FWIW the experimental comedy thread had no limits and drew about a dozen posts a day while open. I would expect a thread dedicated to fewer shows to draw even less traffic.
I'd note also, and that reminds me I should post the final tally when I get home, that other than Bones and House to a certain degree, very few of the procedural type shows elicited a lot of concern over spoilage.
My expectation for this thread will be a bunch of discussion of the two former, probably fairly intertwined, with some periodic segues into Numbers, Medium, and Criminal Minds. I'ma guess that one of another of the new shows will also be in each discussion level, and then some "dude, CSI was intense tonight", "so-and-so rocked on NCIS" type posts every so often on most of the rest.
Does that sync up with what others are seeing/expecting, and does that sound like a good or bad thing? I'd vote for what I just described over dedicated threads for any of them, because I think it'll need at least that much to keep things rolling along.

But I'm not sure that would be true if it was clearly an "Office" thread. Leaving Natter led to a significant increase in conversation about The Office and I think the idea that there will be a place to squee about it is what is driving the push for a comedy thread. Of course, this is only my impression, but, personally, I would be inclined to vote against a generic comedy thread but for an Office thread just because I think that a dedicated thread makes sense based on what happened with the experimental one. Despite my lack of interest in the show, I thought it was great to see the delight that others took in discussing it.

That's what I expect. It's what happened before, and I don't think there were people hanging back.

I for one, would love to discuss 30 Rock and HIMYM more with buffistas in the comedy thread, even though The Office would be the main draw in the thread for me. 'Cause 30 Rock and HIMYM? Awesome. A lot of my non-Buffistas LJ peeps who are fannish about TO also seem to be into those two shows. And a few times I went searching for TO discussion in natter on Thursdays, I didn't really find much talk, so I imagine 30R and HIMYM talks in natter are even less frequent/more scattered. Why not have a place to talk about them?
