Overwhelming? How much more than whelming would that be exactly?

Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Our wings are not tired.

There was some concern over the bucket being too big. Although the people using the temporary thread didn't seem to think so.

I'll be the broken record here. While it worked for those who used the experimental thread, there are others who didn't use the experimental thread because it didn't work for them.

Art Crawl!!!

We could do a Sunday Hour 1, Hour 2, Hour 3, hour 4 - for each network and a Monday etc. for each network.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

I don't think that it's the ability to post the second a show starts that is the issue; more that people who can't keep up with every single show but are up-to-date with a few can't talk about those few if they don't want to be spoiled.

For example, I was completely up-to-date with both Stargates and BSG this past season and really wanted to talk about them, but since I hadn't been able to watch Eureka or Heroes or SPN (all of which I am now slowly catching up with on DVD and Tivo), I couldn't go in Boxed Set to be part of the discussion. I certainly don't expect everyone to wait for me while I catch up, but it would be nice to be able to not have to be caught up on everything. I know I won't be able to do watch-and-posts since I'm on the West Coast, but I'm okay with that.

I, too, am a broken record, but I thought it was worth saying at this point in the new discussion. For that reason, I am not likely to vote yes on bucket threads. However, I also will defer to the majority once our poll results come back.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I, personally, if we're going to break things up, would rather see it done in genre or thematic terms, rather than network or hour. I don't always know what network things are on (and, if we're looking at cross-pollination, by network is not the most compelling method for it). As far as time, the calculus of network schedules means that we wouldn't always be talking about a given series in the same thread (which, to me, is goal 1: for each show to have a particular, predictable place to be its home for primary discussion)

brillig

depending on how the discussion goes today and tomorrow--for those boring people who do other things on the weekend than hang out here--I'm going to either propose we go straight to voting tomorrow night or go with a postponement till after poll data is out.

When is the poll data due?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

When is the poll data due?

I don't know.

Art Crawl!!!

I thought that the poll was running for a week -- is the week up?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The survey site says "Results will be posted a day or two after 8/15 noontime."

Anyway, I don't think the survey is going to establish whether or not people want a bucket drama thread, which this vote will do. I hope the fact of doing the poll made people think about their own usage/wants a little more seriously, instead of just figuring, "Well, I guess enough people want that...so, OK, I'll vote for it."
