I'm just going to ask that you hold off until we get the poll results.
And how long after you get the poll results will you want to wait to analyze the information? How long is enough time to mull then?
I want something in place before the beginning of the season, if this passes. What's the general date of the premieres?
Seems like many things are starting the week of September 22nd.
The Futon Critic has a fall schedule grid with season premiere dates.
I'm opening to a postponement of the resolution if there's a definitive timeline. When are the poll results due? Will the discussion of the results happen here or in Bureaucracy?
I'm honestly expecting the poll to come down to "well, I don't really mind which way we go," with a smaller subsection of "if we do it this way, things improve/go to hell", which pretty much matches what I've seen in the world.
I don't want to pre-discuss the results, but I'd like people to consider if their preferences are actually going to change depending on what that poll says.
I'd like something decided one way or another before mid September, if that's when premieres begin. House and Bones (my personal concerns--and on the same night, woot!) are coming out on Sept. 17.
The issue that I would want discusses, personally, is whether we're going to stick with the one thread idea, or try to break it up into sub-threads. I don't know if anyone's mind's (most importantly, connie's, since it's her prerogative) going to be changed on that from where they are now, though.
You mean different threads for different timezones? Or a thread for each of the major networks vs. one all network drama thread?
There was some concern over the bucket being too big. Although the people using the temporary thread didn't seem to think so.
I'll be the broken record here. While it worked for those who used the experimental thread, there are others who didn't use the experimental thread because it didn't work for them.
We could do a Sunday Hour 1, Hour 2, Hour 3, hour 4 - for each network and a Monday etc. for each network.
I don't think that it's the ability to post the second a show starts that is the issue; more that people who can't keep up with every single show but are up-to-date with a few can't talk about those few if they don't want to be spoiled.
For example, I was completely up-to-date with both Stargates and BSG this past season and really wanted to talk about them, but since I hadn't been able to watch Eureka or Heroes or SPN (all of which I am now slowly catching up with on DVD and Tivo), I couldn't go in Boxed Set to be part of the discussion. I certainly don't expect everyone to wait for me while I catch up, but it would be nice to be able to not have to be caught up on
everything.
I know I won't be able to do watch-and-posts since I'm on the West Coast, but I'm okay with that.
I, too, am a broken record, but I thought it was worth saying at this point in the new discussion. For that reason, I am not likely to vote yes on bucket threads. However, I also will defer to the majority once our poll results come back.
