I just wanted to apologize for my unnecessary post last night. I was trying to make a small academic point, but I realize that, for the people most upset about SPN spinning off, it's not about who made the proposal, but about why the proposal was made. I still think, like Bev said, that "this discussion has been a long time a-comin' and was--still is--necessary", but I'll try to be more respectful of people's feelings going forward.
Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
Thanks Jon. I was just coming in to apologize for getting snippy in my responses as well.
No worries, Lee. Thanks.
So, the voting starts at 6pm PDT tonight. We will need final wording from AmyLiz and someone to volunteer to count votes (preferably not someone very vested in the outcome).
I can count the votes, Jon.
Jon, thanks for that.
I'll have the ballot ready this afternoon.
Thanks, Nilly.
ita - Can you please point votes@ back to Nilly?
I should be around all day, but just in case here's ballot wording:
the following ballot wording is fine by me:
This proposal is to create a dedicated Supernatural thread, NAFDA, no spoilers for anything unaired.
Item: Do you want Supernatural to have its own thread?
yes
no
no preference
I think that's pretty much it.
Back in bureau-blah-blah-blah I suggeted that we put some sort of sort blurb explaining voting and in particular the no pref option for new voters. What do we think of adding that?
Something like
1. There must be 42 voters for the vote to be valid
2. A vote must pass by a true majority (50% of yes or no votes, +1). No Preference votes do not count toward this
3. A No Preference vote counts toward the number of voters needed to make a vote valid and create the 6 month moratorium on further topic discussion.
I'll include something in the ballot about that, Sophia.
AmyLiz: the ballot looks great.
Thanks Jon- Feel free to make it make more sense!
