So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

In my opinion, the needs of both will be served best by a new thread.

But most of us in category the first disagree with that, for reasons we've stated.

Also, as a side note, I totally think Pushing Daisies should go into Boxed Set. Can't wait for that show.

Agreed.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I don't understand this. The 50% of posts in Boxed Set regarding SPN have been about SPN. I rarely see SPN discussion digress into a discussion about another show. And if it occasionally does do that, so what? The same thing has occasionally happened within all of our dedicated show threads.

To me, my two questions go together. If you take SPN out of Boxed set, aren't we left with a de facto sci-fi/fantasy thread with far less media fannish overtones than the original Boxed Set? If so, then personally I would lean towards discussing shows I am media-fannish about whereever SPN is discussed, rather than in the sci-fi/fantasy thread. I suspect that I am not alone in this. For example, Plei seems far more likely to bring other shows into her discussion of SPN than people are in Heroes. I also think that other shows get discussed along with SPN more than might be apparent to someone who is skipping or skimming the SPN discussion.

Given that, it seems like removing SPN from Boxed Set might result in a sci-fi thread that is called Boxed Set and a Boxed Set like thread that is called the SPN thread.

And now my head hurts.

eta: Clearly SA disagrees with me, which is one of the reasons I asked the questions in the first place, to see how other people felt/thought about the subject.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Vonnie has articulated a compelling argument and I have gone from waffling towards thinking a Supernatural thread would be best.

With apologies to SPN fans who like it all nuzzled up in the warm embrace of Box Set, I think a new playhouse for you would be great and you needn't squelch your squee.

What is even happening?

Okay, pretending I understand media-fannishness beyond the squee factor, am I reading you correctly, Lee. Are the rest of the shows discussed in Boxed Set not now really very media fannish?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Well to me they are not, other than possibly Eureka, but again, that's why I asked my questions. I don't watch most of the other shows other than casually, so I just don't know.

Art Crawl!!!

The "media-fannish" thing is something I completely don't understand.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I'm sorry, Lee, I really don't see what you're seeing. Unless all the people who are talking about SPN unsub from Boxed Set, where the rest of the discussion is taking place, and only talk about all their shows in an SPN thread, what you are suggesting seems very unlikely to me. And it's not as though the threads are at cross-purposes--a SPN thread would be about SPN, and the Boxed Set would be about everything else, just as it was when Heroes left or when Lost got its own thread. I don't understand how Boxed Set would become dysfunctional somehow if SPN was moved to its own thread.

I think I have a grasp on it, but I don't really see its relevance to this question.

I never said dysfunctional. To me, it seems it would be different in tone as well as content. Maybe it doesn't to others. Maybe as it works out, it wouldn't to me either. I don't know. In any case, different does not equal wrong.

The "media-fannish" thing is something I completely don't understand.
It also seems somewhat potentially subjective.

And to offer up my usual nonregular viewpoints, I always just assumed Boxed Set was for Sci-Fi/Fantasy discussions that didn't have their own thread. I didn't realize the media-fannish thing was an aspect of it at all until today.
