Also, just to be clear--we want this to be a non-fiction thread and not a reality show thread, yes? I think it's imporant to make the distinction here, because they very well could be two kinds of bucket threads, and I'm wondering whether people want two bucket threads--one for reality television, and one for other kinds of non-fiction such as Ghost Hunters, mythbusters, documentaries, news programs, NOVA, Mr Rogers, whatever.

Yeah, I did bring that up. I found that it could be difficult to get traction for discussion of the non-fiction stuff in the midst of the reality TV stuff. I'm pretty sure I was in the minority there though. I just really dig watching and discussing non-fic, but don't watch and am not really interested in almost all of the reality stuff, so when the topic switched to America's Next Top Aardvark I'd kinda check out.

If we keep the network/cable drama split, which thread gets discussion of old network series that are now shown only on cable? (Example: Night Gallery, now showing on Chiller.)

Another good question, though I wonder if it's better answered in B'crcy. For my part, I think if it's being shown on Cable when it's aired, it should be discussed in cable regardless of where it was first aired.

This particular one feels more likely to maintain the structure/content that developed in the experimentals, but I think the others are far less of a sure bet.

As a point of information, what's the whitefonting regime du jour in the other existing TV/media threads? Movies is - what, a week, two weeks following general release? Any more specific than that? Are we whitefonting anything anywhere else? (Aside from Natter, of course.)

Yeah. It's supposed to fit all, but in practicality it too often turns out to be "fits some people, other people are always pulling up the shoulders or making embarassing adjustments to the underportions."

Though I may just be transferring clothing issues that are irrelevant.

I think folks are smart enough to figure out whitefont rules after a couple of tries. It's not like surgery, where you hope a newbie is on the ball first time out.

I didn't ever get beyond reading the experimentals, but I'd be with you in the long term here. Most of my tv viewing is non-fiction, but I'm not a fan of the reality game show structure. Logically, however, they do feel like they all fit in the same thread. For me, it just means the whitefont question is moot.

See, that's the thing for me, it does seem like they would fit in the same thread, but a reality show like Survivor is actually pretty far away from something like Modern Marvels, or Mythbusters. At least to me.

I'm more a non-fiction TV than a reality show viewer. (TAR is my only cuppa, at this point.)
