We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

When we start talking about altering established threads, we move beyond buckets and into the realm of thread culture. I am sorry that the thread doesn't work for everyone, because I'm sure we'd all love to have ND and Sean and Kristin and others posting in there about BSG or other shows. But that thread has been around a long time, and there's a base of posters who like that thread the way it is for more reasons than simply what shows are discussed in there. As Nutty mentioned in the last TV debate, it's not just a TV discussion thread, it's a mediafannish thread. Shows, especially the Stargates, are discussed in a way that's particular to media fandom (rather than just general TV discussion, or even Buffista TV discussion). I'm not saying that's all that goes on in there, but I feel like moving the Stargates would be the equivalent of taking all discussions of corsets or makeup or motherhood out of Bitches.

(I hope that doesn't sound dismissive of Bitches, because it's completely not intended.)

I tend to agree. Boxed Set is more than the sum of its shows.

Our wings are not tired

If it's about the way that they are discussed, is there a way for us to have another place for us to discuss them? Keep them in both perhaps?

I used to post on SG1 back before all of the thread merging made Boxed Set too big for me to handle. I may have even been in favor, or at least indifferent to the merge at the time, but what ended up happening is that I lost posting about some of the shows I like.

That's fine with me, but I think I can hear ita screaming from here.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I don't necessarily have a problem with being able to discuss certain things in more than one place, either.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

On the font question: all whitefont all the time with show headers does seem like it would prevent accidental spoilage, but just picturing a whole screen of whitefont is weirding me out. Is that how Spoilers Lite works? Do people hang out there and discuss things, or just nip in and out with information?

I think I''m misremembering...But didn't this conversation come out of a desire to incorporate certain shows into the premium thread, moving the conversation there?

A bucket thread is not something I personally am interested in and the shows I watch are not at the top of the list for new-thread-dom. That being said, I wager that if a bucket thread is created for the shows I do watch, I prolly won't participate, but will continue to whitefont about them in Natter.

Am I going to shushed to the door and told that they are discussing it in TVish threads?

What is even happening?

I hope not. If we started regulating Natter, it wouldn't be Natter.

Not shushed, but precedent says you'll be gently redirected to the "right" thread. Discussions in Natter of shows with dedicated TV threads elsewhere don't tend to gain much traction.

You're not misremembering, but when I initially brought up the addition of FX shows to Premium, I stated pretty plainly that I had no opinion about whether discussion of those shows continued in Natter. I don't see it as an either/or proposition, necessarily--the people for whom natter works, let them keep it. But I wanted the freedom to discuss the fx shows in the premium thread because I thought the audience was very similar.
