Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
OK, I put together the ballot. I changed a couple of words in it to make it a tiny bit more proposal-ey. If there are no objections, it'll go live in about 4 hours:
Proposal: That we add a new thread to the TV and Film Discussion Folder specifically dedicated to HBO and Showtime original programming, series, and specials.
The tentative title is Boxed Set Premium, with the description specifying that it is for HBO/Showtime.
The thread shall be designated as NAFDA.
The Press announcement is up:
Voting Has Begun!
And with that, I close this thread.
Starting the discussion of a proposal by Theodosia to add a new thread for the discussion of Heroes. Original proposal is here:

I'd be curious to see how much traffic an episode of Supernatural, Heroes, or BSG generates. Because of the SG torrents, I don't think either of them peg the meter. Oh, Eureka too, really.
I'm curious to know what about Heroes makes it a candidate, since I don't get a rationale other than "I like/dislike Heroes more than the other stuff, and I don't want to scroll through the thread to find/avoid it".
My immediate thought is yes. Boxed Set is getting confusing with the number of shows being discussed. Fun in a way when you can't tell which comment belongs to which show.
Also, I may be influenced by being enthralled by the last episode. Not that I didn't already have the love.
SPN certainly gets a lot of traffic. No doubt Eureka will when we get new episodes again.
If the thread is Thursday starts SPN flurry of posts and Monday starts flurry of Heroes posts will people not want to inject their SPN discussion on Tuesday.
Then Torchwood or Who will start up again. Whee!
Maybe marking the beginning of posts with a show tag would help.

If people don't want to, the thread is broken.
As someone who has watched BSG and Heroes but not yet this week's Dresden Files, I did notice DF conversation popping up after both other shows aired. Do people feel hesitant?
Boxed Set is getting confusing with the number of shows being discussed.
Yeah, this is my main concern. There are a lot of shows being discussed right now. I admit it is mitigated somewhat by the way the shows are spread out through the week, i.e., Heroes on Monday, SPN on Thursday, Dresden and BSG on Sunday.
eta: Maybe I'll just let Laura make my points...
Well the problem for me with the Heroes is that I want to watch it but probably won't have time until (I assume) it comes out on DVD before the 2nd season. So I have to skim Boxed Set like mad to find BSG discussion and stay as unspoiled as possible for Heroes (which I haven't really succeeded in doing). It wouldn't bother me at all to skip by Heroes discussion in the thread if I just didn't care for or about Heroes.

I know this is a proposal about Heroes and not any of the other shows that generate discussion, but for me it's important to know if Heroes is typical or atypical as this decision is made.
I am still anti-proliferation, despite our relative freedom on this dedicated server. Currently all the posts are kept in one table, and since we haven't been purging threads (which I consider a good thing, since searching archived threads can be a bother), the table's pretty big right now.
John H had a good idea (I think it was him) about splitting each thread into its own table. That would give us more breathing room (though each change only has limited breathing room to explore) for multiple threads. Not that it's on the to-do list anywhere but in my head.
So I'm still the same girl I used to be, just for different precise reasons, same general ones.
