Art Crawl!!!

So, really when you're saying stuff like KC is really excellent or really sucks -- that doesn't have to be whitefonted but when it's all "can you believe that NB and DC did whatever" - that should be whitefonted.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I think should a new thread be created, we may have to have a different discussion round and different ballot for white font.

What I am saying? No. I really think that the purpose of the thread -- short-term expose-me-to-everything vs. long-term more-careful -- determines in my mind the need for whitefont.

Like how in Spoilers, there is no whitefont, ever, whether it is casting spoilers or an in-depth discussion of 24 (this spring). In Spoilage Lite, whitefont.

I kind of like the idea of an all-NAFDA-alla-time, no-holds-barred short-term thread, or anyway moreso than a TV Natter.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Not surprisingly, I'm with ita on spoiler policy being they key to my understanding of the topics.

I don't think it's a good idea for us to establish a topic, for which we don't have things like whitefont worked out in advance and I pretty much would strongly object to voting it in then establishing a policy after the fact.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Do you have suggestions about how to resolve this?

What is even happening?

le nubian, how about something like this:

1. Should we have a new thread that covers Fall TV (covering new series that debut in September or October)?

a. No
b. Yes, with no whitefont at all. ever.
c. Whitefont (with show title in black font) for 7 days. Then fade to black.
d. Whitefont (with show title in black font) current season discussion.
e. Whitefont (with show title in black font) all the time.
f. No Opinion.

2. Should we have a new Natter TV thread (covering all tv series - new and continuing that aren't covered in separate threads)?

a. No
b. Yes, with no whitefont at all. ever.
c. Whitefont (with show title in black font) for 7 days. Then fade to black.
d. Whitefont (with show title in black font) current season discussion.
e. Whitefont (with show title in black font) all the time.
f. No Opinion.

3. If items #1 and #2 both pass, should we both new threads, or only one?

a) One
b) Two

4. If, per item #3, the board decides only one new thread should be added, which one would you prefer?

a) Fall TV
b) TV Natter

...

Explanation:

I changed the set up some, to allow people to vote against the thread(s) they may not want, a little more. I knew I would be uncomfortable giving a "yes" vote to question one in the previous version, unless I could know which type of thread was going to pass, and what the spoiler policy would be.

I also clarified about labels, because the prior version read like only the "all white font all the time" option was going to require show title labels in black font. I thought the white font would be more useful if we know what is under it, and whether or not it's something we want to read.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

How do you total these up, though? Say No gets 20% of the vote, and b, c, and d each get 15%. Is that a yes or a no to a thread?

I'm wondering if the only way to work this will be to decide an option for each thread before we go to a vote - Fall TV with no white font, say, v. TV Natter with white font for current ep, v. No New Thread.

Our wings are not tired

That's my issue with the wording of all the options in one post. Does the thread lose if no one option gets enough votes, even if there is a majority of votes that want the thread?

My thinking would be a yes/no vote on the thread, and then a followup item along the lines of "If yes, then..." and do an option for each spoilerfont possibility.

The difficulty with that, as I understand it, is that for some people the whitefont status is a key part of whether they want the thread in the first place.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Cindy,

if we do what you proposed, I think the ballot should be only #1 and #2. I think a runoff is needed to determine which thread and which whitefont option.
