Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!
We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!
The four day discussion period on le nubian's proposal end's midday tomorrow. That means I'll need the final wording from her by then.
Since I'll be at work, let's start the voting Monday evening instead.
This assumes she doesn't decide to withdraw her proposal instead (not suggesting! Just mentioning the possibility!).
Oh good gravy. I'm not sure I have wording yet. Okay, I'll figure something out I guess.
I think that people that are worried about being spoiled aren't going to be happy with a week of white-font. If you're less than a week behind on all the shows you're watching, it's not a big deal to stay out of the thread for a few days. It seems that the people that will have issues are people who are tivo-ing and stocking up episodes to watch at a later date, and won't use or vote for the thread unless there's a substantial white-font timing rule. Which will aggravate the not spoiler-adverse and possibly cause them not to use it or vote for it.
If this thread comes to be, I don't think it will be a thread for everyone. Which isn't to say that I don't think that the thread should exist. I just think, le nubian, that you may have to pick which group of people you're gearing this thread towards, when you're figuring out how to word the proposal. I could be wrong, but I feel like a compromise will just have everyone voting against it.
Okay, here's a first draft. Edits can happen until tomorrow evening.
1. Should we have a Fall TV thread that would focus on new series debuts that occur in September and October?
Yes/No/No Opinion
2. Should we have a TV Natter thread that would cover all TV series (new or continuing) not covered by other threads?
Yes/No/No Opinion
3. There can be only one thread. Which thread would you prefer:
a. Fall TV
b. TV Natter
c. Neither.
d. No Opinion.
4. If a Fall TV thread or a TV Natter thread is created, what is your preference for a white font policy for such a thread:
a. No whitefont at all. ever.
b. Whitefont for 7 days. Then fade to black.
c. Whitefont all the time with a one-line no WF for show discussed.
d. No Opinion.
e. I'm against a new thread being created.
I think your first two questions should get condensed into one should-there-be-a-new-TV-thread question. Then you can put the option descriptions into what is currently the 3rd question.
c. Whitefont all the time with a one-line no WF for show discussed.
Could this be restated? I had to read it a few times before I got it (and I still read WF as Wonderfalls).
Is 4e even necessary? Or 3c? I think it's better if the 1st question is a clear yes/no/no opinion on a new thread and the next questions don't have the potential to confuse that result.
Okay, let me try again...
1. Should we have a new thread that covers Fall TV or TV Natter?
Yes/No/No Opinion
2. If Q1 passes, which new thread would you prefer?
A. Fall TV (covering new series that debut in September or October)
B. TV Natter (covering all tv series - new and continuing that aren't covered in separate threads)
C. No Opinion
3. If a new thread is created, what is your opinion on a whitefont policy?
a. No whitefont at all. ever.
b. Whitefont for 7 days. Then fade to black.
c. Whitefont current season discussion.
d. Whitefont all the time with a one-line no whitefont for show discussed.
e. No Opinion.
2. If you voted Yes or No Opinion on Q1, which new thread would you prefer?
I would change this to: if Q1 passes, which new thread...
Could one of the white font options be "Whitefont current season discussion"?
That is, I believe, what happens in Natter. It seems to work and people are used to it.
note: brenda and Deena's edits have been reflected in post 5942.
You will need to decide how to determine the "winner" of item 3: A simple plurality? A runoff if no option gets more than x% of the vote? Pr****ial V****g? etc.
