Voting Discussion: We're Screwing In Light Bulbs AIFG!

We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

Up with the sun

If we were going to change the definition of "spoiler" for a thread--which is something that we've worked out painfully and at great length--I'd really appreciate us doing it via vote.

I did not mean to suggest we do anything else, Katie. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear that I was just stating an opinion.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Okay, thanks. I just wanted to, you know, get my foot in the door before it closed.

Punishingly Intricate

Cast changes are definitely spoilers to me (not that I mind knowing them sometimes). For a show like Lost they surely are.

Art Crawl!!!

Yes -- because it would be mostly character deaths.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

I definitely wouldn't want to know who's going, but if someone's coming, that could be interesting speculation.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Ultimately I don't care what policy is adopted for Spoilers Lite because I doubt I'll participate, but I will add that the previous spoiler lite policy was, imho, bad for discussion. In essence, Lite turned out to be a thread where you could go check up on a possible spoil, and then there was really nothing left to say. Bo. Ring.

To have any discussion there at all, I think you'd want to allow plot spoilers to be discussed, but to agree to put all plot points (and speculations based on said plot spoilers) in white font.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, I don't mind putting out versions of Spoilers Lite...but I'm not totally clear right now on what the versions should/would be.

I'm echoing what someone upthread said, but take "Lost" for instance...I like the main thread and the hard-core spoiler thread because I know what to do in each thread. The former I only talk about what has aired and speculate.

The latter, I can say: "oh shit, looks what's coming" and that could be general, specific or rumor.

What about this as a suggestion for spoiler lite: 1) general episode descriptions (e.g. tv guide);
2) writers of episodes
3) episode titles

cast announcements are posted according to the discretion of the poster, and if posted they are in white font, but in most circumstances for most shows, cast announcements should go to hard-core spoilers.

Casting spoilers were the main thing I checked in the old Spoilers Lite thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can you, for my own selfish curiosity, suggest alternative spoiler lites? Like one that's just whitefonted spoilers?

Honestly, the sort of stuff you've listed there is stuff I'd like to see whitefontable in main threads.

That thread is very low fat.
