We open it up, we talks the talk, we votes, we shuts it down. This thread is to free up Bureaucracy for daily details as we hammer out the Big Issues towards a vote. Open only when a proposal has been made and seconded according to Buffista policy (Which we voted on!). If this thread is closed, hie thee to Bureaucracy instead!

I'm not sure how I feel about the spoiler thread. Whitefont would bug, but I don't see any way around it in a general thread. I'm not ready to propose separate Lost and OC spoiler threads, and I especially don't want them to be voted down now so that the six-month rule keeps us from starting them if we need them in January.

If we voted now to close and archive Angel Spoilers, that wouldn't stop someone else from proposing new spoiler threads as needed later, right? I think I might just go with that plan.

What is the reasoning behind not including them as closeable on the ballot?

A couple of things. First, we aren't voting on closing all threads for cancelled shows -- we're talking about closing Angel Previously and Spoilers, which are unnecessary now that Angel is off the air, and Quotables after the deathmatches. There will still be threads for Angel and Buffy.

Second, because I don't want to take away valid places for discussion. Wonderfalls will be on DVD and doubles as a Tim thread, Firefly will be a movie.

Third, because I haven't posted in or read either since Wonderfalls was canceled, so I have very little knowledge of what's going on in them. If someone who does post in them proposes that they be archived, I'd probably vote for it, but I wouldn't feel right about proposing it myself.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for clarification.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Lyra, I just want to mention that I think you've done a great job with this proposal so far. And that I will vote for the Lost thread because I want somewhere I can talk about the show without necessarily having to watch it exactly when it airs, for closing Previously and Angel Spoilers because they're useless at this point, and abstain on the closing of Quotables and the creation of the OC thread because I don't really care one way or the other.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I have been a mostly lurking member of the Spoilers threads, and I like spoilers for all shows. In my case, I even spoil myself for ends of books. So I personally would like a general Spoilers thread without whitefont.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Katie speaks for me.

A general spoilers thread without whitefont just seems problematic to me - you'd have to go all or nothing on being spoiled, wouldn't you? I'd prefer a general thread to separate threads, but I do think it would have to be mostly whitefont.

Just to clarify, I think Allyson meant the Lovesick thread and not the Minearverse thread when she suggested closing Wonderfalls.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

you'd have to go all or nothing on being spoiled

Is there anyone here who objects to that though? So far, I think that all the spoiler whores who've posted about it have said that they don't care.

Ah. See, I don't think I've *ever* read Lovesick, so I forgot we still had it. Anyhow, same thing applies -- I'm not going to propose eliminating a thread I don't know well.

(Plus, isn't it needed until the Wonderfalls DVDs are out?)

I guess. It opened April 16th, clocked a little over 600 posts, and hasnt had a post since August 18th. Looks dead, to me. Why couldn't Wonderfalls be discussed in Minearverse? How long is a DVD series a spoiler? Is there even a demand for it?

Is this a separate proposal and I'm just clogging up the works?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I had a brief stint of spoiled for Angel and not for Buffy. So selective spoilage happens, but I don't think it's particularly common. Oh, and so not an issue for me, personally, now.
